What's a good non-firearm weapon that can be legally carried in a car? (e.g. not brass knuckles)
I got an administrative job in a prison, so CC'ing is obviously out of the question, and even leaving the gun in the car may be a bad idea - prisons aren't some shop where the owner has a "no guns" sign taped up; it's a place specified in the Ohio Revised Code as being off-limits to any civilian firearms.
Obviously, I want some kind of protection for the drive to and from work. Would a taser or a stun gun be good choices?
I do have a pocket knife, and I'll probably leave that in the car, but I'm just wondering if there would be a better choice.

This. Was with my dad once, he got rear ended while we were sitting at a stop light. Guy got out of his truck and went ballistic, was screaming and kicking/hitting our car. My dad ran the light and called the cops, gave them the plate and such.

From my expirence, a machete or something scary is good. Sometimes peoe run, other times you got to slice em, which I'd assume they where coked up and didn't run or something..

only thing about machetes is that theyre slashing and copping, not piercing and puncturing blades.
Pepper spray #1 choice. ANything else, if you were to actually ever USE, you will not be on the right side of the justice system.
I'm 6'1", 200lbs and fit, and could very well handle my self in a conflict with just about anyone, but still carry pepper spray because some fools are just crazy.

Pepper spray or a TASER brand TASER, though the TASER won't work to well against multiple assailants. Your primary concern should be using your vehicle to get away though, keep that in mind when driving and keep enough space between you and other vehicles so that you can get away if you need to and don't get boxed in, that will do you more good in most situations than any weapon.

Also I actually recommend using childrens aluminum bats. They're thinner and lighter meaning you can crack them around more easily. Cheaper too

Still cutting a $5 garage sale machete into a more useful blade is not a bad idea. The largest downside of machete as weapon is bad follow up due to nose weight and lack of stabbing point. Unless your in hip deep jungle vines the utility of the blade wont be lost with a circumcision still chops fine.
