It burns at first and the burning turns to serious pain. Its all you can think about. When I got shot in the side of the knee it blew out the front of the knee. My leg buckled and 3 seconds later every nerve in my leg lit up and I just writhed. Getting stabbed in the arm, neck, and gut wasn't ask bad as getting shot.

When I was 12 I got shot when my dumb ass friend ND'd his .22 rifle into my left foot. At first I thought that it just nicked my foot but then I started looking at my foot and it was bleeding pretty bad. The feeling was comparable to the feeling of pushing in a bruise. It really didn't hurt at first in fact it Itched really bad but the pain hit when it started bleeding and for a 12 year old it was pretty painful. My dad thought that it went right through my foot but after a few days it as still pretty painful. I went to the Hospital and they tried to remove it via tweezers and numbing medicine. They fucked up and couldn't remove it and just made it hurt worse. So they recommended to my parents to go to an orthopedic surgeon to remove it. To get an appointment I had to wait an entire week with a bullet in my foot which I had to disinfect daily. Once I finally got the the surgeon it took less than 10 minutes to remove it.

If you're in shock or having an adrenaline rush, the pain might be dulled or even nullified.

I took a 9mm to the leg on a favela here in Rio, it felt really warm before i looked at it, (i was running) and then i saw it and my head was focused on the pain. It felt really itchy and warm, and i could feel the round inside my leg. Second worst pain i've ever felt. First was breaking my kneecap.

It happened in Ramadi in 06. I was standing maybe 15 meters from from a 240 gunner and a local talking to an unarmed marine. My buddy said he's seen a video just like it where a marine, standing a little bit away from two other marines and some iraqi, drops, gets up and takes off sprinting before disappearing around a humvee.
Sounds about like what I did. I dove in through the back door then blacked out.
If anyone happens by it, I wouldn't mind seeing it. I haven't looked very hard for it, but my buddy has never been able to show me said video.

I got shot in Iraq and it didn't really feel like anything at first.
I was running, I fell where I didn't want to fall down at, I was really confused and pissed off at why I could'nt stand back up, I figured I twisted my ankle or fucked up my knee or something because I tripped somehow. I could'nt get my left leg under me. Since I could'nt seem to stand up, I spent my time trying to get my M249 which clattered 10 feet away. I crawled at it didn't reach it before I noticed the sensation of my lower back and my leg feeling wet and sticky.
Shure-nuff, I caught two rounds from a PKM or some sort, one severed some ligaments in my knee, bounced off the bone, chipped the superior medial femur and bounced up into my ass and exited out my ass cheek, that's why I could'nt walk. The other got clean through the other leg, albiet it made a cool curved wound channel.
Yeah getting shot was at once, underwhelming, am annoying inconvenience and later it turned out to have totally fucked my life up all at the same go.
I can walk and shit, now, I could'nt for about 30 months. I went skiing even, last weekend. It's okay.

You get domed, could hemorrhage for a few good hours in the worst pain you've ever felt whilst unable to breathe from blood at the same time.
I imagine a heart shot would feel cold and numb, like you just got hunted or something.
CNS would be like feeling nothing and probably make you go into shock and die almost immediately.
Heart shot would be the way to go, you get to know you died without too much suffering. It's gonna suck either way and you'll probably die unless it's lower abdomen towards the side or a limb or it doesn't penetrate well.
