In an emergency situation where a full crew is not available, how effectively can a single person operate an MBT?
Given that you can't drive and operate the turret at the same time, not well.
Sure. Not effectively though, you could switch seats in order to use the main gun, then switch again to reload, then switch again to preposition the tank. Sitting duck the whole time, but not impossible.
If that is porn, sauce?
tewi a shit
give sauce anyway

>drive to location
>switch to gunner position
>yell out "we are bunker comrade tank!" really loud.
>search for targets, fire.
>load if you dont have a autoloader.
>repeat.
>die

Does that means Iraqi are not even worth a single full person? That's what they pretty much do with Abrams despite having a full crew.
>>28338583
Why not use coax?
>>28338596
Because it's not as cool.
>>28338596
>Arabs
Does that answer the question for you? The driver probably doesn't even know or care about the rest of the tank.
>>28338114
Most modern tanks have the driver separated from the commander/gunner, so you would have to go outside of the tank in order to switch.

God damn, Koreans are gross.

Sounds about right.

I didn't think this was true, but I looked it up and goddamn, there goes my dream of a one-man tank rampage.
>>28338989
Whatever replaces the Abrams will probably be remote controlled or semi-autonomous, anyway.
>>28338789
But japs and koreans look all the same.
Hell they all look the same.
>>28338583
Why do we even bother trying to train those inbred arabs?
>>28339079
The neocon argument in 2002/2003 was basically that you're racist of you think iraqis lack the cultural institutions to behave like civilized human beings in a functioning, pluralistic democracy. Look up some Charles Krauthammer editorials if you want to read a wall of incorrect assumptions and assertions.

If you're in a civilian area, you should be able to crush most things with your tank. And since taking it out would involve the application of highly dangerous heavy weaponry with a large potential for collateral damage, you'll most likely have free reign if you don't hurt anyone.
Happened in Austria about 25 years ago, a lovesick tank driver got drunk, nabbed himself an M60A3 and proceeded to crush a double digit figure of cars and streetlamps.
>>28338635
How hard would it be to rig up a device to slave the turret to a joystick or something for the driver, given time? I mean, how do you even aim the turret, is it with buttons or a wheel or what?
I can't imagine it'd be too hard to run some wires from the gun to the driver's seat and rig up a monitor to display what the gunner would see. At that point you only need an autoloader.
>>28343955
I imagine it would be easier to rig a device for driving the tank from the turret than it would to install an autoloader in something like the Abrams.
>>28344042
Why would modern armor skimp out on having an auto-loader anyway? Does it just take up way too much room that could be used for armor/shells, or is there a concern that it might become damaged and unable to function?
>>28344076
Both.
very bad
one of the reason france performed badly against panzers even with superior tank is because they had 2 or 3 men crew, they were overloaded as fuck compared to the krauts
>>28338089
>>28338114
That could work in a Leclerc, since you can access the commander's seat from the driver's position.
Also you don't need to switch to the gunner's seat.

Plus an Abrams loader, once trained, is faster than an autoloader. And the ammo can be stored in a containment unit outside the crew compartment.

Can we make a tonk that's remote piloted like a drone and has videogame like controls? Would it be even 1% possible?
>>28344076
>or is there a concern that it might become damaged and unable to function?
When things get hairy it's probably easier to give the loader a shot of morphine and tell him to stop being a pussy than it is to whip up spare parts for an autoloader from empty cigarette packets and mre wrappers.
