I live in New Hampshire (where there is allot of uninhabited woods). I am sick of shooting at the same old range, can you guys school me on the do's and dont's of oper8ing innawoods. Where do I go and what do I avoid?
>>
>>28337909
Don't get caught. That is the only rule
>>
>instead of calling the authority in charge of stewarding the land I want to shoot on I'll ask a bunch of 14 year olds on /k/
Why are you doing this? If it's the National Forest, call the Forest Service or go to the website for it. Each designated forest has its own web page. If it's private property, find the owner and ask.
>>
>>28337958
Agreed.

Be a responsible firearms owner, OP. You need a safe backstop for your rounds, and no risk of those rounds continuing on into inhabited areas, vehicles, hunters, etc.
>>
>>28337909
Shooting innawoods without a backstop, what's within a mile of you?
>>
>>28338088
I was thinking more about driving up north near the White Mountains where nobody lives because I live in a residential area. Am I good as long as I am 300 feet away from an occupied dwelling?
>>
>>28338108
That may be the hunting safety zone, but you just show up somewhere and start shooting you better be ready for the cops to show up and they're going to have reasons to arrest you, from trespassing to reckless endangerment
>>
>>28337909
As a fellow 603 resident, get landowner permission. Not strictly necessary, but by far the safest bet. Especially up in the whites where there are hiking trails and masshole tourists all over the place.
>>
>>28338129
Shooting on National Forest land is legal if there is no signage posted to the contrary. God damn you sound like a huge faggot.
>>
>>28338167
This is what I thought because when a dude from NH fish and wildlife came to my range club as a guest speaker he said that as long as you are 300 feet away from an occupied dwelling then you are okay.
>>
>>28338167
Like I said up above:
>>28338088
What's within a mile of you. Shoot in the direction of people or a structure, with rounds that can travel for a mile, and you could suddenly find yourself in a world of trouble for being an idiot.

Next, if you're shooting during a hunting season that's a whole other issue and you'll be subject to game laws (min sq in of orange, type of bullet, needing a license). Going innawoods in the northeast is a myth. There's little gov't land that open to shooting and it's a far cry from the millions of BLM acres out west. As one other person said, the masshole up there hiking are going to make one hell of a mess for you if they hear a shot and so much as a branch crack above them.

You are responsible for where you round go and what they hit.
>>
>>28338407
>shooting into a hillside
>hurrrrr what's within a mile of you
And this is precisely why I shoot on National Forest land, to stay far away from Range Nazis like you. I bet you blow a fuse when someone hunts without eye protection too. Don't shoot across signed trails and there's no signs, it's legal. You don't like it, write to Obama about banning it.
>>
>>28338445
This is what I want. So as long as I go way the fuck out and not be a retard i'm good? Also I'm 18 so I want to avoid people giving me shit and think I'm doing anything illegal
>>
>>28338445
I blow a fuse when I get confused with idiots who go out into a national forest and shoot trees, bottles and cans, then leave a mess there. Better yet, I don't like getting confused with dolts who just shoot off into the woods like their 7.62x54 round didn't just fly 2000 meters off into god knows what.

When you're posting about firearms and not wanting to be hassled by range officers, you are most likely an extremely unsafe shooter. These two posts made me cringe.
>but I go into the National Forest
And so do thousands of hikers genius.
>>
>>28338810
What makes you think I'm unsafe? I just want to experience maximum freedom of innawoods operations.
>>
>>28337909
If you're going innawoods, police up your garbage, including your brass. You give shooters a bad name when you leave an asston of shot everywhere. Leave it somewhat like you found it at least.

Yeah like this shit doesn't go both ways. Girl is suing a gun range for neglect for someone overshooting and hitting her in the jaw. But hey, I'm just copy/pasting, right?
>>
>>28339808
I always pick up all my brass and targets, I feel bad if I miss any. Its not that I am an environmentalist or anything, just don't like being a douche.
>>
>>28339808
Police?

>He thinks people follow his life on here!

Oh boy, I didn't think namefags could get any worse, but I think you just trumped the tripfags getting arrested for shooting a protester. Please go back to Youtube.

I only shoot innawoods. The only problem is if I "accidentally" shoot myself then I'd have to walk 5 miles to get to my vehicle.
>>
>>28341769
Except Hampton beach is a sleazy shithole full of tourists from Massachusetts and Montreal (Fucking french fry cunts). No shooting here :(
>>

I worked at Funorama which is an arcade attached to the Casino Ballroom he is standing in front of. The assholes fired me because I asked permission for 2 days off 2 weeks in advance.
