It goes without saying the advantages of centerfire rimless, but additionally when you don't use AE5728 you actually see great results. I mostly shot blue box but did go through about 2000 rounds of red box.

Other opinions:
I hate all calibers made as an "intermediate" between existing and popular calibers. This includes .40 S&W, 6.5 Grendel and Creedmoor,
and others that don't come to mind right now.
I like the look of lever guns but will never buy one, because bolt guns are cheaper and I can't get one in a military-style caliber like .30-06, .223 or 5.56, 7.62x39 or 54R, etc. without buying a really expensive one. The only possibility would be a .22LR but I like bolt actions better in that caliber anyway.
I kind of have a revolver fetish (mostly due to video games like GunZ, cawadooty, and some old western/police movies) but I hate the fact that pretty much all centerfire budget revolvers are snubbies or short barrels. You can buy a semi-auto pistol with a 3-4 inch barrel for a lot cheaper. Why are revolvers so expensive when they should use less parts and still have some economy of scale?
I like the bulky look of Hi-Points for some reason
I could care less about hammer vs. striker fired, I have a striker fired pistol but I don't think it really matters.
I don't like the M1 Garand because it is expensive, doesn't use a regular magazine, and doesn't work with weird ammo. I like the M1903 though.

The .22lr isn't bad for defense because of ballistics (actually it is, but it can still kill), it's bad because of reliability.
22lr is great for teaching, practice, and varminting, but there's no reason to use it for self defense at all. If you need lighter recoil than 9mm for any reason, like arthritis or being old, you're much better served with a large steel 32, 380, 38 special, etc. Just as shootable, but far less likely to misfire.

The way you get a gun legally there is by buying it off the black market, then registering that black market gun, and boom. You can legally have any firearm you can find and pay for, including full auto RPD's and some STG 44's from Syria.
Carry laws aren't so good though, you cant open carry anything. You can only CC handguns not used by Saudi authorities, and you can't bring them in restricted areas i.e. mosques, hospitals, schools, etc.
Problem is if you break any laws you might have an issue with their punishment system.
