As many of you know on January 1, 2016 Texas will allow open carry for all CHL holders. They way the law was written allows for stores to opt out of open carry buy posting a 30.07 No Open Carry sign. Many notable businesses based in Texas (HEB, What-a-burger for example) have already taken these steps and posted their 30.07 signs.

Whats the fucking deal Texas? Even when I go to articles discussing this topic their is an alarming number of anti gun Texan's saying they are boycotting businesses that allow open carry and reporting any open carry individuals to store managers and police.

Can fellow Texan's toss in their 2 cents on the issue.

Also, whats the word on printing? Is printing going to be considered open carry? How will be throwing my P226 under a t-shirt be legally seen in this scenario? How do you see January 1 going in terms of this bill passing?
>>
Just cc because it's superior , open carry is stupid unless you're going out with multiple people who are also carrying.
>>
>>28333719
This. Open carrying is worse than shoot me first tacticool clothing.
>>
Texas isnt pro gun, we laugh about it and say things like "better not mess with a mans house this is Texas hahaha amiright" but in realitt we arent very po gun, the people who even made open carry in this state possible
>Open Carry Texas
Are considered crazies by alot of "sensible gun owners". Texas isnt really all that pro gun, we're just fudd as fuck, hell most "pro gun" owners are thanlful Reagan banned new machine guns.
>>
>>28333719
>>28333725
>>28333734
I'm not arguing open carry is superior just to clarify and I'll still be throwing my shirt over my gun but I was still a little surprised. Also, do you guys know the deal for printing?

Printing has always been legal, the best thing about open carry is that now an asshole sheriff cant fuck with you for saying your shirt rode up as you were getting out of your car..
>>
>>28333734
>>28333734

This is horse shit.

Texas had tons of anti gun laws forced onto it after the civil war by the north.
>>
>>28333734
This. Texas is Fudd as fucking Elmer. Also fuck Wawaburger and I'll just HEB carry (gun in a bag) when I need groceries.
>>
>>28333708
Just a reminder that concealed rifles and shotguns bypass the letter of the law for both 30.06 and 30.07.

Backpack carry an SBR and you are good to go everywhere there isn't federal mandate preventing you from doing so (ie. 1000ft in any direction from a school).
>>
>>28333734

Are you from Austin? I.e a Cali immigrant to Austin because we have lower taxes and jobs?

I came from Communistan NY. If its fun its illegal.

I came here to work and enjoy my 2A. Now because of all these idiots from these blue states moving here because their economies collapsed they think they can bring that liberal bullshit here.

Austin is primarily composed of tumblr faggots and Californians.
>>
>>28333906
I live in Houston, have my whole life.>>28333839
Prior to the Civil War theres was plenty of anti open carry laws in Texas

Austin is full of kommiefornia transplants

I live in SA and have a CHL. I choose to not open carry, it's an open invitation to be harassed by the popo

No longer a concern. Its no longer 'open carry' or 'concealed carry', its just "carry".
Sucks to hear about HEB, thats my store. I suppose that I'll just switch to concealed if I need to buy groceries.
>>
>>28334150

or shop at Kroger... or Randall's if you really wanna throw away good money.
>>
>>28334358

>>
>>28333906
I live in Austin and I agree with the faggot transplants we have here. I'm not a fudd by any stretch and don't know what that asshole you're quoting is talking about. Probably some dumbshit who hangs out with other fags in the warehouse district and thinks that everyone in Austin is some fag hippie type like him.

Bet good money that faggot does yoga and shit.
>>
>>28334051
Yeah, it sucks because I moved her about ten years ago from the Victoria area (I've actually dealt with Pixyteri and was friends with Kris the guy she bangs) and gotta say all the transplants are fucking annoying.

I'm sure I'll still CC 90-95% of the time or more. Personally, I'm happy to have the mere convenience of OC: It'll just be nice to be able to comfortably carry my glock 19 when it's 100 degrees out, instead of having to deal with having a brick IWB like I do now.

In principal though, I support open carry because more freedom is always a good thing.

>>28334473
don't talk shit about yoga. it's GOAT fitness for your body and mind
>>

albertson's doesn't GAF about guns as far as I know... and for you socialist/liberal/"progressive" transplants from failed democratic regime states, please keep your fucking mouths shut about what we do in Texas.

Also, fuck Chip-poo-poo-tle and their bug filled burritos and antigun left Coast shit.
>>
Texan here.

Will be "open carrying" aka wearing a fullsize and not giving a fuck if it prints, etc. all day every day.

After seeing a few situations where there are 3+ perps involved I am glad I have a chance to not have to carry around single stacks anymore. We retention holster and magazine pouches now.

Also, as a business owner I welcome open carry into my store so long as it isn't by a retard.
>>
>>28333708
Fuck "waterburger". I have no idea why people actually like their dreck food. I have lived in Texas my entire life, born and raised, I would rather go to Any of the thousands of small burger joints and get a burger rather than "waterburger"
>>
>>28333708
Whataburger manager here, the CEO simply asked that nobody OC, no 30.06 or 30.07 signs are posted, nor are they in our kit for 2016 (as far as i know, i briefed the new shit coming out in the first quarter, nothing of the 30.06/7 signs were mentioned).

Thank the San Antonio sperglords for carrying ARs at low ready into a downtown store and sweeping people.
>>
>>28336229

>>
>>28336239
Meh, you are entitled to your opinon.

My store has been growing at a solid 10% per year. Im happy, bonus checks are good.
>>
>>28333878
You best not be talking shit about Whataburger or HEB. Like, I wouldn't take Whataburger over a real burger, but its good compared to other fast food places.
>>
Texfag here. I really see no point to Open-Carrying at all, although I plan on getting my CCW as soon as I turn 21.
To me, it's really a non-issue, but it's wayyyy better than some legislation passing in the gun-grabber direction, so it's a win in my book. Also, all the shit you've heard about Austin is true; completely loaded with hipsters, essentially making it New Portland.
>>
Corpusfag here. As others have stated I will still cc but not care about printing as much. I will possibly get a cz 75b now and iwb holster. Those businesses have the right to do what they do, I will just continue to cc and not worry about it although I appreciate not worrying about printing as much.

Open carry and campus carry are a great start from the last legislative session. The only people openly against such laws are gun control advocates and law enforcement. The same exact people who said it was going to be the wild West if conceal carry was implemented. It took a woman who's family was massacred at a luby's to become a legislator and submit a conceal carry bill. Here's her testimony :https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M1u0Byq5Qis the bill passed in 1996 and the passing of licensed open carry of handguns and campus carry are huge steps in the right direction that the vast majority of Texans support. Constitutional carry is the next logical step and groups like Open carry Texas, Come and take it Texas and lone star gun rights are working a very successful grassroots campaign unlike the Texas state rifle association or the NRA who don't give a rats ass about actively pursuing such. It's also mainly from the great people of Texas who express their support and wrote their elected officials. Were winning this fight and we have the majority, gun control advocates and law enforcement who would rather feed their power and egos are on the defense and rightly so. They're losing ground everyday and the days are numbers for advocates of such wayward policy.
>>
>>28333708
> an alarming number of anti gun Texans saying they are boycotting businesses

A vocal minority, I assure you. Most of us don't give a shit if some grandma open carries her 1911 or if goofballs haul a rifle in at low carry, just in case a whitetail or an active shooter should suddenly dart inside a Starbucks. Most of us will roll our eyes and go about our day.

That being said, businesses are free to post those 30.07 signs on their own property, should a large section of their client base prefer it. The almighty dollar comes before political statements for businesses at the end of the month.

IIRC there are a few states' concealed carry permits that do apply in Texas. If you lived in one of those states, could you OC there too, or just Texas Permits?

People carrying their gun on a belt holster? Cool

People carrying a nugget on their back with a sling? The fuck you're doing, nigga.

Simple fact is open carry in Texas is a new and scary thing for many people. It will take years of people open carrying for it to become acceptable.

I have, for many years, preferred to CC on my boot due to the fact it's less obvious and thus less likely to attract attention and leave you branded in a social situation before anyone has made a first impression. I'm still undecided if I'll open carry after the first just for the above reason, yet I know at the same time, open carry is never going to become acceptable unless a significant chunk of people do so, which means it's sort of a duty to open carry when possible.
>>
>>28336451
I think Target, of all places, is okay with OC
>>
>>28336194
On the named chains, I consider Whataburger to be much better than any of the other places, but local fast food joints are almost always better. One of the first things I do when I go to a town is ask someone where the best place to get a burger is, and they almost always point me to a hole in the wall that never fails to satisfy.
>>
>>28336648
It's shocking to me that there are people out there that do not own any weapons.

I really can't comprehend it.
>>
>>28336671
This. What do you expect to happen when three "urban youth" bust your window at 3AM? You think they are going to take your TV and just leave? Nah, they are going to fuck you and kill you.

Not my house.
>>
>>28336671
I can understand it in the larger cities because the mentality is way different, but in rural areas? There's only a handful of white households that don't own any sort of firearm, firearm ownership is less common among minorities though. Usually the people who don't own a firearm are immigrants from places like Houston and Austin.

Strangely though, one of our security guards at work only begrudgingly personally owns a shotgun, and he's stated he doesn't much like guns on the whole. Seems like a strange profession for a guy opposed to scary 'salt rifles and cartridges larger than .22. I offered to let him shoot my SKS a couple of times, and he's always passed.
>>
>>28336744
That security guy sounds like he has no business being a security guard.
>>
>>28336899
I don't think it was by choice. He was a bouncer at a bar before he was security, which was a vaguely similar skillset. Not a lot of options for a 35 year old guy without a degree.
>>
For me, all it means is I'll start carrying a fullsize semi-auto OWB instead of a compact single-stack IWB. It'll be way more comfortable, but it'll still be covered up by an untucked shirt.

At least finally it's 1000% clear that printing or an accidental uncovering of my concealed firearm is OK in the eyes of the law.

Intent doesn't even factor in anymore, or does it? If you switch from CC to OC in an intimidating way (or it's perceived as such) can you still be charged with brandishing?

I don't like it, but I understand why Whataburger is anti-OC. Have y'all ever been in a Whataburger after midnight? It's a haven for drunks under 30, pissed off middle aged men who just got off graveyard shift, and paranoid stoners. And because of the nature of Texas and where Whataburger puts their restaurants there's a 90% chance that at least somebody in the restaurant will know somebody else and therefore be upset with them about something. I've seen multiple fights break out in Whataburgers especially at locations near college campuses.

It makes sense that they would ask folks to not come in strapped. Maybe >>28336229 can weigh in.

MN doesn't honor Texas permits any more. We changed our laws to automatically honor any permits that would meet the legal requirements for MN. Texas and Utah let veterans under the age of 21 CC, so they automatically got disqualified.

This is scarily spot on. Whataburger at 3 AM is a pretty interesting place.

Pretty close, Whataburger is hopping after midnight here, almost busier than the lunch hour. Lot of black people, drunken kids trying to sober up, and older people not wanting to go home yet. I went once when I got hungry after working an 18 hour shift, never again.

Least the staff was chipper as can be.

Illinois did the same shit. We have these shitty ass signs that basically say "You can't legally CONCEALED carry into this building or prepare to get buttraped."

No open carry signs are really no big deal because you can just concealed carry. Come back OP when texas has full retard NO CONCEALED CARRY signs like my shitty state.

I have been streaked all of once in my life so far, and it was right after I sat down with my #1 order at 2 AM after a buttfuck of an inventory at the retail store I slaved at in the day. Two retards in nothing but George Bush masks did three laps, making monkey sounds and hurling ketchup packets at people, then left.
