Greetings, fellow /k/omrades!
I'm going to the local shooting range soon, for the very first time.
I never thought it's possible in this country, but it is. Year long dreams are suddenly becoming reality.
AMA, test me if I'm fit for my very first time at a shooting range!

What country?

only use guns while loaded
point at things you want to die
see that guy fuck him up
put your finger on the trigger when you want to kill a nigga
>>
>>28332155
1. Finger away from the trigger, unless you're about to pull it, muzzle always facing the target.
2. Muzzle is never to be pointed at people, no matter how empty the mag and chamber is.
3. Said emptyness of the chamber is to be controlled after firing and ejecting the magazine.
4. I'm sure there is a fourth rule covered in that, sir!

Be certain of your target and what is beyond it. But that's no worry on the range. Just innawoods.

Yer good to go, kid.And always remember to remain scared slightly shitless of the gun you're holding. Only then can you truly have fun with it.

Have fun.

Sure thing, Gunny!
I have a healthy amount of respect for everything that's strong enough.

Have fun then. What guns are you planning on shooting? Is it just a pistol range or will you be able to fire rifles/shotguns as well?

>Have fun then.
Absolutely.

I was thinking about going with .22 and up to 9x19mm the first day, maybe .45 ACP if I'm already confident enough with 9x19,
and sticking to that for like five visits to the range. And then, when I feel safe and everything about the physics, I'll go as high as the local gun club (here since 1857 btw) can offer.
Apparently it's very varied from place to place what you can shoot at the range. Some ranges may only offer air rifles and .22, others allow you to shoot the good stuff like 5.56, 7.62, slugs and that kinda stuff. I don't know yet what my local club can offer, I'll get in touch with them on monday. But their website says "No Magnum ammo on wednesday", so I guess they have at least some decent stuff.

Are you going to try to get your own firearms?
>>
>>28332299
I was thinking a lot about that but no, at least not in the near future.
I guess I'll have to think more about it. I sure would like to have something like a Nugget but that's involved with lots of money I'd have to save first. The Nugget itself may be cheap but I also want to store everything properly.

Are antiques and muzzle loaded firearms treated the same as regular firearms there?

I know any muzzle loaders or pre-1899 firearms are exempt from regulation in the US. You can ship them to your door.
>>
>>28332368
Muzzle loaders have to be from a certain year and can't be double barrelled, then everybody can buy them.
But you need a license for the powder, and I guess for shooting it in general.
>>
>>28332385
Black powder isn't too hard to make.
>>
>>28332421
Mixing black powder also requires a license.
>>
>>28332443
Man you guys need licenses for everything, don't you?
