Alright /k/, i'm looking to get a .45 glock but I can't decide between a glock 41 and a glock 21.

So you decide for me since i'm a child who can't formulate his own opinions.

Carry or competition?

you are a big guy

I love me sum G30

keep in mind that the G30 is as large, and thicker, than a G19.

Also by carry I really should have clarified that i'd be using this for home defense and carrying it around with me in a car. If I ever get an actual concealed carry license, which I will, i'll get something like a bersa 380 or a g30, but yeah I don't have one.

So with that in mind, glock 21 or glock 41? Is the main difference that the 41 is longer and has better accuracy?

>I want a .45 glock home defense and car gun
>I don't have a CCW
>I'll get a bersa 380/glock 30 after my CCW
>so, Glock 21 or 41
Okay, so you clearly don't carry a firearm. You're probably nohandgunz, but there's nothing wrong with that if you're working to rectify that situation.

Right off the bat: drop the .45 hangup. Shit's obese, this is 2015. Hangups are something to avoid in life, and .45 ACP is right up there.

>I plan to CCW a bersa 380 or glock 30
Well that's a pretty big spectrum.
You're not going to comfortably carry a G30 IWB, period. It's not a subcompact like Glock lists it as; it's bigger than a goddamned G23.

A concealed handgun is about two pounds and a pound per mag you're going to have on your belt for the duration of your natural life.
That's much less comfortable than it sounds. You'll see the world differently.
You have to obey special rules, you can't go to certain states, you need to look for posted signs. You'll receive hate on a scale not seen in North America since the 60s. You will be lawfully discriminated against. You choose to deal with all this because above all you want to live. A concealed firearm is not a toy, a deterrent, a threat, or a personal empowerment. It is something to be used exclusively to terminate a life.
You'll adjust to it and even miss it when it's gone, but you'll never forget for long.

Oh, and your state may not allow constitutional carry in a vehicle.

This. Not the SF, the Glock 30S is what I have. Carry it most days.

>.40

40S&W is dead. No discernible advantage over 9mm or 45ACP. It's a meme caliber.
>>
>>28331220
It's a total meme caliber, but trade-in fowtys are cheap and conversion barrels (plus extractor and ejector if you want to do it right) are plenty. Shoot 9mm when you want and swap back to .40 in the event of an ammo shortage.

or at least that's what I told myself when I bought a Detroit PD-marked supposedly unissued M&P 40 and a trade-in Glock 35.
>>
>>28331254
I can support this way of thinking.
>>
Get a 43 if you intend to ccw it. Screw .45 in a ccw package, because you're going to want the extra ammo capacity and less recoil in a small gun.

If you want it for home defense or cold weather carry, get the 21. I find that .45 has a lot of advantages in compact to full size handguns, and the 21 will probably be just as manageable as a 22 or 17.
>>
Oh yeah, get the 41 if you're doing competition. That's about it.
>>
>>28331220
>>28331254
>>28331271
It used to be a good midway point between a 45 and a 9mm. Now that they have subsonic 9mm ammo, there's really not much of a point to 40 cal... unless that's what you're used to carrying. Like myself.
>>
>>28331337
Not even subsonic ammo. There just isn't a clear advantage to .40S&W with current duty ammo.
>>
>>28331254
I bought two .40s during the shortage. A 229 and a 35, and I gotta say the 35 with a tlr is one of my favorites.
>>
>>28331356
I still carry it because it's a comfort thing. I've always carried it but yeah I agree with what you're saying.
>>
>>28331375
Fair enough.
>>
Get glock 41 5in+ barrel to get best of .45 acp velocity. Great home defense and car gun.
>>
>>28331337
>>28331356
It used to be good rhetoric to help command staff feel more important and patrolmen to feel more powerful. That's a pretty good reason, if deceitful and manipulative. Now that it's no longer flavor of the decade people are moving on, surprise surprise.

124gr and 147gr is pretty excellent, but I'd take 115gr 9mm over problem stopper. I'd rather reduce target reacquisition time and weight by a significant percentage than increase first-shot incapacitation by two to three percentage points.
>>
>>28331436
I trained to shoot under 40 cal, and being a pretty big guy there's not much difference in target reacquisition for me between the two.
