So is this just the look of the typical rim fire pistol for efficiency, or is it made to look like this to emulate the luger look?

Or is it for shits and giggles.

What advantage do these tube like looking pistols have over typical semi automatics?
>>
>>28330629
It's more related to the Nambu than the Luger.
>>
efficiency. don't need no extra shit on a 22LR unless you're going for a certain look. pretty much all 22LR target pistols look like that to some degree. buckmark, mark iii, hi standard, colt target, etc
>>
>>28330647
The nambu? The Japanese pistol?

what was so special about it they found it worth emulating over other designs?
>>
Probably ease of production.
>>
>>28330629
It's Ruger, the goal is 40% function, 40% cost, and 20% ergonomics
>>
>>28330685
I guess Bill Ruger just liked the design.
>>
>>28330664
well i get for a .22lr
but what about a full pistol round? or another rimfire bigger than a .22lr?

just simple design and efficiency ?

i dont know, the design just always made me curious.

good enough answer as any.

as hunting and plinking pistols i get it. but in term of military or self defense they look sort of less than best.

but hey, if a guy or buyer just wants one and says "damn practicality!".....then fuck it, 100% power to them.
>>
>>28330629
They're distinctive and classy, what's not to love?
>>
>>28330738
So It's a japanese Luger? a Ruger? or nambu
>>
>>28331281
Coming from a jap
>>
>>28330629
The bolt is smaller than the slide on a normal pistol design so it is lighter and easier for .22 to cycle.
>>
>>28330629

Tube receiver is easiest receiver to manufacture.
>>
>>28330629
They're reverse-engineered from the Nambu.
>>
>>28330629

dunno and don't care. I love my mark II. Just wish it had the magazine release on the side like the mark IIIs do.
>>
>>28331908
Original Nambu was a pretty good design, but it sucked in practice because of the round it used.
Nambu 2: Shoot-Your-Leg-Off Boogaloo sucked because it failed to improve the weak points of the original while throwing away everything that was good. Why I don't even.
>>
>>28332653
say it with me now,
EXPOSED EXTERNAL SEAR
>>
>>28332672
It almost makes me wonder if Kijiro Nambu turned against the war effort and was subtly trying to sabotage the IJA.
>>
>>28330629
Asked this in another thread, i have a target model, do i have any options for threading the barrel?
>>
Bill Ruger liked the grip axis on the Luger and wanted to emulate it.

>source an article about Ruger firearms I read a while ago
>>
>>28332737
grip angle or bore axis?
>>
>>28330738
Bill Ruger was given a Nambu by a vet that picked it up during WW2. Which is probably why we see elements of it in his target pistols.
>>
>>28330629
You need that grip angle for feeding and that is what makes it look like a luger. As well as the lack of a large slide that you don't need for such a small round.
>>
>>28330629
More thrust per squeeze.

Really, though, the grip angle is for comfort/aesthetics, and the tubularity is just the lack of a Browning-style slide, because a .22 doesn't need so much mass in the bolt to avoid beating itself to death.
>>
>>28331281
The models with bull barrels are distinctive and classy, the pencil barrel versions are from a dimension big on musical theater.
>>
They're much easier to disassemble and reassemble.
>>
>>28333139
bore angle
>>
>>28331895
>just realized that Ruger sounds like a stereotypical Japanese man saying Luger.
Made me smile

Source?
>>
>>28334489
read the thread faggot
>>
>>28332728
Yes, I asked the gunsmiths at Hyatt's gun shop in Charlotte about doing mine they could for about 175.00. I think I'll just buy a 22/45 with the barrel factory threaded.
>>
>>28334497
I did, saw a bullshit story but no real source asshole.
>>
>>28330629
it is for efficiency noob OP

MK1/2/3s are great pistols

you don't need all that extra shit when it's only 22

I have a MK3 competition model with Volquartsen internals

I think I'm going to get a 22/45 model with a factory threaded barrel because I'm waiting on my stamp for an AAC Element 2 can.

I can't wait.

which AAC can is that?

You have what I'm putting together. Probably not a Pac-Lite though.

>>
>>28332737
Bill Ruger was also fuddmastergeneral and supported the Clinton AWB.
>>
>>28330629
Ease of manufacture, simplicity of maintenance, grip angle allows the weapon to point well. Plus I'm pretty sure Ruger has some kind of patent on that bolt they use in their target pistols, since I've never seen another pistol that encloses the bolt like that.

Wood style grips best grips. Although sometimes it looks like a blaster or something.
