I wonder if it'd be possible to build one yourself. They don't seem terribly complicated; in a sense they're basically a scaled-up version of a spring-piston air rifle, but with a powder charge in place of the spring. I'd imagine the trickiest part is optimizing the various parameters to get decent performance out of it (i.e. piston bore and weight, barrel bore, chamber volume, burst disc thickness and of course powder charge).
