Post some wacky, odd and overcomplicated firearms that would otherwise can only be described as over-engineered or designed by a german

German caseless space clockwork magic, anon
>>
>>28325332
He probably was of German descent. Stoner is an anglicized version of Steiner, a common German surname.
>>
>>28325806
That would explain why the rifle was shitty during vietnam because it was enginerred by a guy with german decent

Fucking awesome
>>
>>28326519
idk man i kinda like this design. could have been designed so much better though. almost everything is machined.
>>
>>28326448
Pretty much this...it had changes done to it against Stoner's wishes to try and save money. Notably they dropped the chrome lined chamber and barrel, and the change from stick to ball powder, which gave it a little more velocity but burned dirtier. Plus the fact that no cleaning kits were issued initially didn't help. It was a shitty roll out, but it was fixed pretty quickly and by the time the XM-16E1/M-16A1 went into production it was a reliable weapon system.
>>
>>28325097
Is it wrong that I want one of these with a stock and longer barrel? Be a pretty nifty carbine.

Won't happen as long as Federal regulations are in place, though...

Like pic related? You *might* be able to get the chambers recessed to take moon clips of .45 ACP. Then design a handguard/suppressor thing like in the OP yourself. Wouldn't be that tough.
>>
>>28325142
>But Hans, it just needs to go bang multiple times!
>No, Joerg. You do not understand. You are simply not Aryan.
>>
>>28325462
It's a literal clockwork mechanism for the G11 designed to re-orient the caseless rounds and align them with the barrel before firing.

A similar weapon made by not-Germans just put a spiral feed in the magazine and called it a day
>>
>>28328169
what other weapon? minds drawing a blank atm.

>>28327132
Still jams when dirt gets inside abd still breaks when dropped thats why alot of shtf people get the AK47 due to not having those common issues but an AR15 is ideal for civil unrest or urban situation were it is best suited at.
>>
>>28325142
And people say the AK is a rip-off. Maybe Russians stole the plans and lost half of it?

>fixed 20rd magazine fed by chargers that must be completely inserted then extracted by hand
>on a light machine gun
What were they even thinking.
>>
>>28328621
It's not particularly complicated, granted the bushings are a bit on the excessive side but this was when they weren't sure how much they could trust stamped receivers.
>>
>>28328573
Except that's all completely wrong. ARs are way more reliable than most people think, and they don't fucking break if you drop one. This stupid rumor needs to die.
>>
>>28328573
I like AKs and have one becasue I got it when WASRs were 350ish but there isn't anything that would break in an AR that wouldn't break in a AK and dirt is easily managed. If you are dragging your rifle on it's sling behind you during SHTF it might be a problem but for the most part it is better to have in terms of being able to repair something with limited resources. If something breaks in an AK it needs a drill and a press to fix it.
>>
>>28328874
I suspect the bushings were a result of the fact that the receiver stampings were made of relatively poor quality steel. It would make sense from an economic standpoint to save the high quality steel for the bushings. I could be completely wrong though, I'm just speculating.
>>
>>28329373
This is a good point, ARs being a modular design means that you don't need tools to replace anything that's likely to break. You could completely disassemble one with a punch, flathead screwdriver, and a pipe wrench if you had to.
>>
>>28328573
>still breaks when dropped
Maybe if you bought a $400 Bushmaster.
>>
>>28325097
silencer barrel aside, why don't they make a cylinder cover for revolvers so retards don't lose fingers?
>>
>>28328045
Wouldn't be the same, though.
>>
>>28328045
Rossi? Beans and rice favela magic
>>
>>28329843

because the 95% of revolver owners that aren't retards don't need it and don't want to pay $90 extra for a feature like that
>>
>>28325116
Fuck you. Rifle is fine.
>>
>>28329843
That would also increase muzzle velocity.
>>
>>28325155
You could say the same about half the decisions they made during WWII.

Fuck thatry shit I just take american dumb dumb math instead at least I can pass easily
>>
>>28331518
Increase would be negligible. There is a reason the nagant's gas seal didn't catch on with other revolvers.
>>
>>28332615
The grenade barrel is shorter, stops just past the front of the scope. LOOK WITH YOUR SPECIAL EYES!

>What were they even thinking.

theyre italian, they werent
>>
>>28334215
You wouldn't, obviously.
On the bright side of things, the system was so well-isolated that there was basically no hope of dirt ever getting into the inner parts of the gun. The gun was apparently very reliable for that reason.
>>
>>28335358

>>
>>28335456
well, do you find anything on the internet that goes beyond a snapshot of the whole thing assembled like in >>28325288 ?
there's no CAD model or anything available to really see how the damn thing works
all the info we got is "the chamber rotates 90 degrees"
>>
>>28335761
It actually spins 360 in 90 degree increments. A round gets pushed down into it, turns to face out barrel, fires, rotates again, repeat. The problem's the intricate clockwork needed to do that combined with the fact that there's nothing being ejected to help carry off excess heat.
