What does /k/ know about the Springfield 1903?
Bump, anything?
It was my first rifle. I love it. Great guns
Germany sued America in WWI for them, because it was too similar to the K98 and won.
The problem is that they lost the war and couldn't very readily collect.
So they are gud/10

If it has a serial number below 500,000 , it has inferior metallurgy. Combined with modern pressure .30-06, you might KB your grandpa's old hunting rifle like me.

Pretty sure it's 800k for one brand and 200 something for the other
>>28317792
So do you think this is safe to use?
One of the best rifles that I have ever held and shot and had the pleasure of owning.

You can buy sporterized 03's real cheap on Gunbroker because all the old farts that sporterized them in the 50's are dying off. Look for actual 03's, not 03A3's. They are dynamite guns, and can easily be restored with repro parts if you want.

It was made in 1903
>>28317925
Yes. Shoot it in good health. It will be one of the smoothest-cycling bolt actions you ever lay hands on.
>>28317959
No, it was invented in 1903.
>>28317641
It blows up in your face if you use modern commercial 30.6 loads so your better off with a modern rifle

Only on earlier runs. Enlighten yourself.

When you ass\u\me you make an ass out of u and me. The workers responsible for heat treating the M1903 receivers used an "eyeball" method to determine if the receivers were heated up to the correct temperatures on some early receivers. As a result, some early numbered receivers MAY not be as strong as others.

Sorry, didn't notice you (>>28318443) already posted the same link I did.
It's a gun, and I am pretty sure stuff come out of one end when you pull the trigger.
>>28318074
I have one that eats anything I throw at it.

I have one.

What's wrong with A3's?
>>28320151
The trigger guards, butt plates, and magazine plates are stamped instead of milled. Some faggots make a big deal out of it but A3's are usually about $500 less than 03's give or take and still one of the best rifles to be used in ww2 and even beyond.

A3's have better irons and bolts though.
This thread is fucking pure autism. Fun fact it was used in competitions by marines in ww1 out to 1kyards with iron sights. Look it up
/k/ I have a shit sport 1903a3, gun is great and has great irons, but the stock is shit, where would be a good place to get a original stock. If this thread is still alive by morning, ill post a pic of my 1903a3. until then enjoy pic.
