Lucky nigger. I ended up with Tool Shop (Menards' store brand) when i told my extended family i was going to be a machinist. The mics were usually off about 2 to 4 thou and the calipers they got me only measured out to two decimal places. I would rather have used a damn measuring tape :(

(inb4 underaged, I'm in college) I figured instead of asking my family for some shitty electronics or toys, I would start building my arsenal with a relatively inexpensive rifle, an SKS. I wanted a 'mature' present and something that wouldn't break the bank. Like $400 tops, MUCH less than the totality of what I would have gotten overall and it was the one thing I wanted. I started talking about it 7 months ago, never prodding or begging, just discussing the idea of it and rarely sending some online advertisements to the parents.
Cue this morning and we open things up, I get a bunch of half-assed 'funny' books that were purchased yesterday, some candy and this stupid fucking '3D planetarium viewing headset' for the iphone that my dad essentially bought for himself because he's a child. Then I got 2 discount books on ammunition and reloading which I actually wanted, but are essentially useless without reloading equipment or a fucking rifle.
Mom got a kindle fire and $800 earrings, dad got a solid silver Bolo tie and a smaller kindle fire, they got an amazon spook talk box 'alexa' or whatever the fuck it is.
They knew I wanted this one thing, this one comparatively tiny investment, and totally ignored it.
Got nearly straight A's this semester for the first time, gained 10 lbs of muscle and have been working my ass off to appease them and they can't do this one thing.
I haven't said anything because I don't want to ruin christmas but FUCK.
