What do you think of rifle/shotgun combos? Why don't we see more of them?
They are pretty much invariably a clunkier shittier version of having the two weapons separate. The OICW was a massive piece of shit, but the XM8 is neat (not necessarily good, but good enough that some Asians adopted it) and the XM25 is game changing. They just tend to be demonstrably worse than the sum of their parts.

>XM8
The XM8 is strictly a rifle. How does that factor into rifle/shotgun combos?

Solution to a question no one asked.
They used to be popular with hunters as a do all gun, especially in Europe.

can you fucking read??
>>28315696
What is that?
>>28315696
Just because in Europe it's such a pain in the dick to get one firearm legally, let alone four, that it's actually worth it doesn't make them good.

What? I can't understand your accent.

The XM8 is the rifle portion of the XM29. On its own it was okay, when you add the 20mm launcher portion (which also took 10 gauge shells) though, it became junk.

They make great tools for back country living/homesteading. Most of them are pretty much eternally reliable, and they require minimal maintenance.
I know somebody who loves his, he lives up in the Kootenai Forest area, he has a Remington over/under 12GA/30-06.
Would the average gun owner need/want one? Probably not, but there's a market for them, and people like them.
Honestly this thread is probably better suited for /out/. /k/ Doesn't take too kindly to fuddguns.

I liked the shotgun under an uzi combo one anon posted one time. It looked like a badass combination, also requesting photo of it.
>>28315884
The thread was opened with a pump/semi combo. Obviously combination guns have a place when one doesn't need much more than two.
>>28315958
Oh, fair enough.
Yeah, those things are retarded.
>>28315757
Actually they're more popular because of how you can go hunting for anything with them. You don't come home hungry because at the end of the day, you can use the .22lr barrel on a squirrel and save the large ammo for tomorrow.
>>28315757
Lad, they became popular long before anyone even thought of firearm regulation.

I was referring more to the 1800's through early 1900's. A man may only be able to afford one gun, and that gets passed down through the family line. It had nothing to do with politics and more to do with putting food on the table in the most practical way possible.
