A. Should I get a 1917 30-06 enfield or a No 4 Mk II blonde .303 Enfield?
B. What is the most fun plinker I can get
Requirements are
>low eye release peep sights (like how far back they would be on an AR, FAL, or Garand) or the ability to easily mount such sights
>ammo must be in the $0.30 or lower range per round and must be accessible.

30-06 is in most stores --even walmart has it
.303 is harder to find and will not be as cheap

If you want .30 then get sks or vepr in x54r if you want bigger bang. Still relatively cheap for ammo

The correct answer to questions like A is always, "both". In my opinion, though, a No4 MkII > a 1917.
What makes a plinker fun is usually the cheap, plentiful ammo. But 22LR is sometimes no longer cheap nor plentiful. I prefer a bolt action 22LR for plinking. I have a CZ-452 Ultra Lux as my main plinker, but any 22LR firearm will do.
If you reload, almost any caliber ammo from any firearm can be a plinker.
