Am I the only one who quite enjoys /k/ being so shit? I mean just coming here, opening the catalog (filters watching my back and keeping the worst shit away from my sight), selecting the threads that hit the sweet spot where they aren't attracting edgy kiddos or fudds, maybe even at the best possible time in the thread when you can have actual conversations with people who share your interests and ideally are capable of dropping some new pieces of knowledge on you. It's just beautiful, getting the best of this board requires constant online operating and I wouldn't have it any other way.
I just wanted you to know you all serve a purpose on this board and I love you all

First shitpost!

Being on /k/ is seeing the absolute first things to come out of the gun owning communitys minds, with little or no filtering
At some point you just learn to let it wash over you

Every once in a while I get tired of us having to cover the same ground over and over again but that's pretty rare. For the most part I think a lot of us like educating people on all the wide variety of subjects, even if a lot of it comes out as "LOL R U Rtarded? y would u by that?" and we also get people with crazy ass specialties coming in and dropping knowledge bombs on us.

It's quite disheartening 2bh

I don't even know if it's funny or sad that there's people who hate generals (aka. containment zones) to the point they'd like to see QTDDTOT removed when at least half of the threads made on this site should go in there and be answered by literally anyone who has ever seen a gun
That pretty much how I use any board on 4chan - filter the General threads, pin the threads I like, hide the ones that are guaranteed crap. the neet.tv catalog helps.
I come to /k/ for the ridiculous shit. Weird gun projects, finding weapons that nobody talks about, fictional weapons and sci-fi and crazy ideas might actually work. The speed at which threads comes and go is great because I can find a few new bits of info, go research them, and then come back for new stuff. /k/ is my brainstorming area.

>uses filters instead of just making decisions

I've hidden the milsurp, enlistment, and AR general threads every time without fail. Filters save me the 2 seconds it takes to scan and click hide.

why does the enlistment thread even exist? are there really that many people who want to take advice that could affect the rest of their life from 4chan?
>make a thread discussion actual guns or shooting
>zero replies, 404's
>see thread about latest bullshit like isis/gun politics/what obama's eating for breakfast today/SHEETHETDURFERN/dindu pol garbage
>300+ replies

I don't think you quiet grasp just how rock bottom some of the failures on here can be.

I've seen good examples of this: anons with in-depth knowledge of gunsmithing, or physics, or Middle Eastern studies, or China, posting wild shit about linguistics or metallurgy or carrier tech proliferation or some tiny detail about tribal interactions in a specific remote part of Afghanistan...one of my favorites was a huge wall of text from some east asian languages grad student (or something) who broke down the linguistic root of the word "gook" and how it entered the American military lexicon in some thread about Vietnam.
This shit happens almost every day. I see it at least once a week.
tl;dr - I love all you guys. Merry Christmas.

/k/ logically has a bunch of military or ex-military people, and they'll be more honest with you than people are on your average shit chewing forum, be it for better or worse. Plus like half of /meg/ is just people asking how to get /fit/ for service. I think they can be pretty interesting once in a while
