It's the same in the US. If I remember correctly, our CFF is very closely related, the main difference being that our FO's talk to FDC and yours talk directly to the gun line. There may have been some other differences but when we were cross training mortars there was no issue receiving the other nations CFF.

I've literally never said copy, it's not even in the lexicon. You can say "solid copy" but that's just the same thing as roger, or to confirm that you understood after a read back or repetition
I don't see a use for copy. If you don't understand, just say "say again your last". If you yourself are reading back something passed to you, like a eight digit grid, you would just say "roger that, I have 12341234, how copy" and they would probably reply with "solid copy, out" or something like that.

The vast majority of parts on a PRC-117 or a PRC-152 are destroyed when unserviceable, if they aren't sent back to Harris for refurb. I couldn't say what the parts specifically are, but if the radio has the capability to accept crypto it cannot be DRMO'd. PRC-153s, ie, Motorola XTSs can be bought surplus though.

It's weird that they use symmetric key encryption given that it introduces the big fucking problem of having a big ass vault with keys that could be compromised.
