What is the 1 gun that every gun enthusiast should have before they claim to be an enthusiast.
My vote is for the ruger 10/22

I wouldn't call a 10-22 an enthusiast's gun.

I'd say something along the lines of a cz455, or other competition grade rifle. Maybe like an Anschutz too.

>a 1911
>a wonder 9
>a magnum DA revolver
>a .22
>a varmit rifle (ar-15 or sks or whatever)
>a high powered rifle
>a shotgun

that would be a rudimentary collection

Kinda just covering every base. Depends where you live too.
In Canada something like an SKS or 10/22 is common place in everybodies collection. For an enthusiast up here, a quality military semi-auto would be standard. Something like an AR15, Vz58 or M14.

Battle rifle.

10/22 is entry level, if 10/22 was "enthusiast" level than every 12 year old with a rifle would be an enthusiast. If you arent slinging 308 you arent an enthusiast.

WW2 era Battle rifle of some sort... doesnt matter what variant.

Nugget, K98, Enfield, M1 garand or Carbine, SVT, G43,

Sounds like you lack a battle rifle.

>reliable
>rimfire
Pick one

Seriously, a good, clean 10/22 with the right ammo will shoot excellently but anything else and your 10/22 will have a shitter.
>>
>>28302325
I learned to shoot on my grandfathers Winchester model 63 (semi auto 22) from 1947. In the thousands of rounds I ran through it, various brands I dont think it ever jammed on me once.
>>
It's the ar15
>>
>>28302371
While that is impressive for a 47 rimfire, that's still 'unreliable' by modern standards, not that the 10/22 design is particularly modern either.
Rimfires, especially 10/22s, are notoriously temperamental. The primary issues are failure to fire, failure to feed and stovepiping/failure to eject. I don't think I've ever seen a 10/22 last more than a few months without a spring needing trimming or replacing.
Rimfires are inherently flawed in design. Cheap to manufacture, however.

>>

Disregard, I found it.
>>
>>28299957
my biased qualifications are:
A homebuilt AR15, preferably with an upper assembled yourself too. Not an AR fanboy, but assembly of your own gun from parts is pretty enthusiast, especially if you're taking the time to headspace it correctly and own an AR tool

A gun in a stupid caliber; it could be a 5-7, a .300BLK gun, something in 8mm or 7.5 swiss, just something that you're generally unlikely to find at a walmart or Dick's

something either in .40 or 10mm because you're not /k/ if you don't have a gay opinion of one of them

and finally,
A CC gun, because you're not really an enthusiast if you don't carry

You become an enthusiast when you buy one of these very special '10/22s'.

>claim to be an enthusiast
No matter what gun you think is the answer to this question, you will be easily countered when someone points out that it's some bog-standard gun that a ton of people have and that you are saying some casual with that gun is a "/k/-approved gun enthusiast" whereas some guy with a pancor jackhammer, a g11, hitler's ppk, and booth's derringer isn't serious about guns. A gun enthusiast is someone who is enthused about guns, whether they own zero or all of them.

Ignoring the fact that you're 12 and just playing along with you, I'd say an ar-15.

>recommending 10/22 over god tier marlin 60

I'm going to say, anything in black powder. You're an 'enthusiast' when even though it's outperformed and impractical compared to modern offerings in pretty much every single way, you buy one anyways because you like shooting.

10/22 a shit. Get a Marlin 60
>>

I think OP isn't saying that having a 10/22 makes you an enthusiast, but that most enthusiasts will have one in their collection. I think it's a valid premise.
>>
>>28305883
>Marlin 60
>Unironically using a tube magazine
At least with a 10/22 you can use aftermarket mags to increase capacity. Can't do that with a Marlin 60.

Can confirm fun to shoot. Also got me a original Tasco red dot to go with it. I'll post later when I get the weaver base if anyone wants to see it.
