OC = pepper spray = oleoresin capsicum
My understanding is that CS / mace sprays are more effective but have more restrictions on them, while OC / pepper sprays are easier to get and cheaper also.
Personally I’d like to get an ASP Palm Defender OC pepper spray, as despite already having a CPL, I think a compact keyring pepper spray makes a valid addition to the self-defense arsenal and is quicker to get into action against an attacker then a concealed handgun (assuming the spray is on your keychain and in your hand) and gives you an additional couple of valuable seconds to step back and draw your handgun.
And then there are situations where you wouldn’t want to draw your handgun but are still in danger; a drunk fratboy in the middle of a bar, or an angry parent while picking up your kid from school, etc.
