Do you have calipers? What's the diameter of the bullet (not the whole cartridge) and the length of the case?
That looks kinda like 7.5 french. Or maybe 7.92 mauser?

Sorta related, but I recently found a spent cartridge of 7.62 real fucking motherland with only the numbers 78 and 188 on the headstamp. Can anyone tell me where this cartridge is from?

7.92 mauser is 82 x 12 mm
Bullet looks more like 30-06 though

"188" is Novosibirsk Low-Voltage Equipment Plant (good stuff). "78" is 1978; year of manufacture.
