Anyone shoot USPSA, IPSC, Steel Challenge? Any and all competition shooting goes here.

Quick question, if a MTF tranny was entered into a 3 gun match, would they shoot women's or men's division? What if they were post hrt and have titties, but still swing a bat?
I feel like they would have to shoot male division and would get a ton of crap, but on the other hand, we do let the French compete.
>>
>>28292524
Your gf a trap?
>>
>>28292524
I shoot IDPA. Want to try USPSA, but there isn't a club near me.
I'm not too familiar with USPSA rules, but I don't think there are gender divisions. I know IDPA doesn't have them. If there are, then at a local low-level match it would probably be up to how tolerant the locals are of being trans. At a big time match, no idea.
>>
>>28292596
Specified 3gun, pretty sure they are male/female divisions.

I guess the best option would be contacting the organization directly, who makes the rules?

>>28292580
No, just wondering
>>
>>28292580
this needs to be answered, fgt.

also if you want a challenge, mens. if not, womens.
>>
>>28292596
What guns do you shoot? Got pictures of your gear?
>>
>>28292620
I'm a little drunk, I may not have 100% been paying attention. To my knowledge, there is no unified 3-gun league. It's more scattered and less unified than pistol-only action shooting (IDPA, IPSC, steel.) But I could be wrong about that, only long guns I own are a Hi Point 9mm and a broken single shot 20 ga, 3-gun isn't really an option for me. I would love to start watching if it became a spectator sport though.
>>28292630
I shoot my carry gear. Been meaning to take a picture. Gen 4 Glock 19, Bladetech nano holster, Bladetech dual mag carrier.
>>
I shoot USPSA, there is a "Ladies" Identifier, but it exists only to allow women to compare scores with other women. Same goes for the 'youth' 'Mil' 'LE' 'Senior' and 'super senior' identifiers.

>>
>>28292627
I don't think the person would get to choose what side they competed on.

I really think it would go smooth if
>MTF competing in men's division
>FTM men's division, maybe women's in some areas

If a MTF tried women's and won they'd be labeled a cheater.

>This reminds me of Bender Rodriguez in the world bending championship
>>
>>28292691
This was actually a recent controversy with UFC. MtF joined women's UFC, bashed a girls head in, a bunch of people started protesting saying "she" should be fighting men. Never heard what the result of it all was.
>>
>>28292620
No need to be ashamed my gf is a trap
>>
>>28292707
I figured it was a legitimate topic of discussion. If a dude with boobs and no willie out-shot Jerry's little girl there would be an immediate call for review.

Also, I can't believe Jerry's son in law is a slavabo that watches crap like always sunny.
>>
>>28292760
I would say it is, it's just not something that's come up yet in the shooting world, so we don't know how the leagues would react.
>crap like always sunny.
I think you mean gold like Always Sunny.
>>
>>28292760
They might just have to drop any division between genders. USPSA doesn't have special gender modifiers, that would be the most logical step.
>>
>>28292769
Would be interesting to see the shit go down when it finally happens.

And either way, how does Jerry approve of essentially a /k/ommando for his girl?
>Weak noodle arms with 'I live in my computer room' appearance
>Shoots slavshit
>But not very well
>Watches AS and wears meme shirt
>Talks like a fag and his shit's all retarded.

Any sort of international level sport makes MTF trannies compete as males.

Sorry trannies whilst you might be a womwn in your head your body has grown up on that sweet sweet testorone. Gives far too much of an advantage in any sport to have them competing in the womens division.
>>
>>28292849
Sounds legitimate.

Now how do you think the sports would react to a full mtf Grand Master?

Here's my USPSA gun.
It's a whole mess of fun.
One thing I'll never understand is why getting people to show up for the first time is like pulling teeth. I have people at my workcenter who say "I'm super good with my pistol", but when I say "Great you should come out and shoot with us" they always shrink to the idea.
It bugs me.
>>
>>28292918
What's so hard to understand about making the leap from something for fun to something for competition?

Sometimes thinking about scores can ruin a hobby.
>>
>>28292918
Because talk is cheap, and if they come with you they might have to admit to themselves they're not as good as they tell themselves they are in the face of actual ability.

No offense to 'em, there are plenty of good reasons to not be /really/ good with your pistol. But there are no excuses for not being good and pretending you are, and they know this.
>>
>>28292918
Some people have a crippling fear of competition. I have a friend who will get crushed if he loses something, even if he's brand new and literally every other competitor is nothing but supportive.
>>
>>28292918
Performance anxiety, I have tons of people that refuse to go or make excuses because they think competitive shooters are like jocks and will mock new shooters.

Think of it like trying to get a fat guy that talks about being operator to go running or take up a martial art.
>>
>>28292982
>>28292974
>>28292963
>>28292960
So, how do we get new shooters to go? Most of them love it after their first match, but getting them there is pulling teeth.
>>
So I think we, as a whole of a community, need to start pushing competition more. /asp/ is constantly spouting the virtues of competition for martial arts, we need to learn from them. If you train with your guns with the purpose of being good in an actual operating/self defense situation, then GO COMPETE. Prove with raw numbers you have skills.
>>
>>28292687
how far is that and what size are the targets? looks hard from that view
>>
>>28292997
Physically drag them out and shove them in your car. Zip ties are cheap and easy to use, if necessary.
>>
>>28292997
I try to cover most of the basic excuses to get them to admit they won't nut up and work from there

>I don't have a gun
I have 2 extras
>I don't have xyz
I have full spare sets
>I don't want to buy ammo
use mine I reload
>>
>>28293002
We need a /CSG/ competition shooting general.

>>28293011

two ranges near me do rifle leagues

you start with your rifle then transition to your pistol on part of the course, they also make you do reloads

its absolutely fucking awesome, the added stress shows you things you didnt realize too. On my 556R I found out that one of my mags was a bit too worn and wouldnt lock properly in the gun, caused a fail to feed, the solution being to say "FUCK THIS MAG" and going to pistol town on some targets

>You shot a limited revolver? Slow time, B class
Same guy, same day, same match, open division race gun
>Holy shit, you're so fast, A class, almost master. Way faster than that revolver fag.

Kinda pisses me off when I'm ranked lower than someone because they have an equipment advantage not a skill advantage. Feels like they're cheating I guess.

>MFW I shoot faster than someone in ooen division

>>28293466
I really like fiddling with shit, so production was out of the question for me.
>>
>>28293443
What about the one where you loaded 10 rounds in a 17 round mag, shot five targets with five shots, then shot the stop plate twice, and ran out of ammo in the middle of the next run and had to reload on the clock. Because that was fucking hilarious.
>>
>>28293515
I think they had a brain fart and misheard me when I said I was doing center fire limited. And I did notice I hit the stop plate twice. As for reloading on the clock, I take that as practicing for a real world scenario.

Depends on the match. There are rules about what calibers can be used for what gun, although if you find a match that's more for fun than money and bragging rights (Ian's 2 gun thing for example) they may let you dick around as long as you're not being unsafe.

Can anyone answer this? Why shouldn't I just use pic related?
>>
>>28302990
because it builds too high

you want the optic as low as possible without affecting the ejection
>>
>>28303909
Makes sense. Can you just drill and tap a frame and install a traditional open division mount?
>>
>>28304033
of course you can and that's what gunsmiths' do if they convert a normal gun to open gun

however it's not just a reddot that does it
nearly all open guns have a compensator and use matching ammo that has an excess load of gas to make it work

most normal pistols can't handle +P+ pressures all the time and the barrels or slides break or crack

that's why most open guns are STI 2011s and not custom refitted service pistols
>>
>>28304054
Couldn't I just use a powder that will still be burning at the muzzle and load really light bullets?

I want to get into shooting open, but I'm not doing it full time, and I really can't afford a $5000 gun. That's why I'm interested in doing a lot of the work myself.
>>
>>28304077
nobody said anything about a $5000 gun
you can start at $2000 probably

but the main point is handloading
there is no point in buying an open division pistol to shoot major factor if you don't reload

because you can't either buy ammo that reaches the major factor or because it's so stupidly expensive that you won't shoot it anyway

and yes if you do reload you can adjust your loads to fit your shooting style and gun

if you have a fuckhuge compensator with barrel ports then you'll need a shitload of powder for a shitload of gas
if you run a small tiny comp then you won't have to stuff that much into the cartridge

but keep in mind that more gas means more stabilisation

all the beformentioned applies to shooting major factor though
there is no major factor in most steelchallenge shooting competitions
thus people run light open guns with small comps to shoot factory ammo or plain low factor handloads

also how's your brass situation ? if you lack free brass then shit
>>
>>28304097
>brass situation
About 500 of my own once fired, and 500 new unfired .38 Supercomp. No stupid hot loads so far so the brass is in good condition. I also have a friend that works at Cabela's and I use his discount on reloading supplies and avoid shipping by picking up in store. This is still just a side hobby, so I won't be buying more than 500-1000 rounds of brass every month or so. Even on Midway that's $175 max.

I have no need to reach major power factor with steel challenge. And the gun I'm using is a .38 Super built on a 10mm frame.
>I know I'm going to get shit for shooting a Tanfoglio but the new models are beefy as shit, and the added weight negates a lot of recoil.

Since I would be going from scratch I could use any type of comp that suits the gun, but I really don't think need a massive comp on the muzzle, a small one that moves just enough gas to get the job done should work.
>>
>>28304159
why are you shooting 38super if you don't want to reach major factor ?

for simple steelchallenge i would just get a 9mm barrel simply because the brass is fucking free everywhere

>Tangfolio
which one exactly did you get ?
>>
>>28304169
I just like the round, 38Super is neat as hell and I love shooting the gun.

I found a deal on the standard full sized steel one in that stupid "Wunder" finish and picked it up for novelty, I fell in love with it. I know it's the shittiest one in the catalog but it shoots well, and the recoil impulse is light.

I'm not too worried about the structural integrity, some stupid fuckers have been making the new ones 9x23mm in their garage and so far none have rapidly disassembled. (Amazingly)

I do have a few 9mm guns, but I don't want to fuck with them because either I like them as they are, or I carry them. The .38S has always been a novelty gun so I don't mind fucking with it.
>>
>>28304203
well do you have a threaded barrel then ?
>>
>>28304207
Nope, but there is a smith in town that will extend and thread pistol barrels for a few hundred. Or port an stock barrel and slide for less. (But I'd rather have the barrel done, it's the only thing I will not touch at home)
I couldn't find a threaded barrel for the .38 Super online

This gun is kinda a project that is just for shooting at matches, unless it would be vastly less expensive to buy a new open ready gun I'd rather convert it and make it useful. Right now it just plays range toy, I like my guns to have a purpose, even if it's just to be a match tool.
>>
>>28304229
>extend and thread pistol barrels
that sounds structurally unsound mate

also for "a few hundred" you can get a brand new barrel from a custom shop
>>
>>28292787
And never have a female ever win anything ever again?

Not gonna happen.

With a stable shooting position you should literally never miss at 100 yards.

Offhand would be an entertaining challenge but still not insanely difficult.
>>

i can't help you out with that mate

i actually am from Austria and my tips won't help you much

I know that feel.

Different guy, mainly shoot skeet and trap.

>>
>>28293300
eeh. I had a doublefeed on a 200m sector during a 2-gun competition. Instead of just letting the targets go I transitioned to pistol. I actually managed to (most likely accidentally) hit one of the targets too. Everyone got a laugh out of the guy trying to longball a 10" silhouette with a 1911.
>>
>>28304271
Well thanks for the conversation anyway, it helped get the problem solving in motion. What's your preferred competition pistol?

>>28304264
You really shouldn't ever miss a 12" plate from 100 in any traditional shooting stance. Especially if you have a sling.
>>
>>28304262
ooh right, Jerry's girl.

My bad. Yeah, she'd still be competitive.
>>
>>28304290
Didn't she win her first international competition at 17, over in Europe?
>>
>>28292524
>we do let the French compete

They normally shoot SSD, or Stock Surrender Division. Requires no rounds, no mag changes, no movement. They shoot stock division because nobody wants to throw an expensive customized gun onto the ground.

The hell it does, that thing is sexy as fuck. I love the CZ look, especially one that gets used.

You win any big matches with it?

This is my clunker of a .38 by the way.
>>

>You win any big matches with it?
nah man pistol shooting isn't my thing
I'm above average but far from the top

i do excel at pistol caliber rifle shooting though
that's why you find so many 9mm AR posts by me
>>
>>28304362
>pistol caliber rifle shooting
Is that part of an actual sport over there? Because it sounds fun.

I saw some of your posts, really cool new gun.
>>
>>28304369
the thing is most of west and central europe lacks real dynamic rifle ranges

and pistol caliber rifles are well, pistol caliber
so you can shoot them at normal pistol ranges

most of the real rifle matches are done in northern and eastern europe where they have the space
>>
>>28304419
Okay, so it's more of an expedient solution to the environment? That still really cool, do they do stuff like 3 Gun over there?
>>
>>28304426
>3gun
same problem
hardly any matches because you can only do them at either really small levels or in big open spaces

which do exist, but since guns are bad nobody will rent them to shooting clubs
so not many big 3gun matches
>>
>>28304437
Well that's disappointing, Think it will ever change? I feel like dynamic shooting sports are growing in America, it would be very cool to see them get more popular around the world.
>>
>>28292524

just drove home pissed to the eyeballs and read that,
>would they shoot women's or men's division
nah, I need my reading glasses.
> What if they were post hrt and have titties, but still swing a bat?
I feel like they would have to shoot male division and would get a ton of crap, but on the other hand, we do let the French compete.
Shit this tory nigger is serious
