Would it be better to buy a lower parts kit and assembly it myself and buy a complete upper?
>>
I've actually been looking for a good 80% lower receiver. Any suggestions?
>>
Build or youre a huge faggot.

You can build a decent AR for $600.

Or you can spend $800 on a S&W MP and have a shit AR that has no individuality to it at all.

If you don't have the ability to mill, just go to your LGS and see if they have any 100% lowers. Or look online, aero precision and PSA have some decent ones.

As far as uppers, you wont save too much money building the entire upper yourself, so just buy a complete upper or one without the BCG and charging handle, and then buy those separately.

>individuality
Who gives a fuck about form, it's about function. Is this what special snowflakes actually believe?
>>
I worked at a CNC shop that made 80% lowers. All of them worked. We used the same goddamn software, with the same goddamn coordinates as everyone else. It doesn't make a fucking difference what lower you get.
>>
>>28279950
Well a $9.99 charging handle functions just fine. So does all the Mil Spec shit that is handed to shitbrain troops. So, by building, you have access to the huge plethora of products offered to us, thanks entirely to American ingenuity, creativity, and the free market system.

That is why slavshit owners hate AR's. They don't know the taste of FREEEEEDUMN
>>
All my builds have the AXTS charging handle by the way. It's a fucking amazing design.
>>
>>28279950

This is what AR fags believe, yes.

WHY OF RIFLE MUST LOOK DIFFERENT FROM RIFLE OF COMRADE? WHY RIFLE ALONE NOT GOOD ENOUGH?!

I'm good here.

Build one

If you know what you want you will not be disappointed

The guy is a huge fucking faggot, but what he says is still true. Buying prebuilt ARs in most of /k/s price range is retarded.
>>
>>28279622
Buying a complete upper and complete lower separately works just fine and is hella cheap

80%, as in you still need to do machining?
Or stripped, as in a plain lower ready to have a parts kit installed? Because a lot of guys new to ar15s get that confused

>>28279950
No, that part really doesn't matter and there's nothing wrong with s&w m&p15s or colt 6920s or spikes LE carbines.

But if you want a nice stock or a comfier pistol grip, or a nice trigger, why not save money by buying that from the get go and not having the unused factory stuff collecting dust and taking up space?

Plus, its cheaper to build a lower. Unless you go the PSA route, most companies charge $250 or more for one of their lowers, and building can really reduce those costs.

So OP, its your choice. Save a buck and buy a psa complete OR build your own. Building is easy, but it'll take a couple hours out of your day the first time you do it, but it will result in a superior lower, and gives you the added benefit of educating you on the individual parts of your rifle, which improves your comfort and proficiency with it.

You're a special kind of stupid, aren't you? You really haven't bothered to look, to any extent as to what aftermarket has blown up for AK's. Shit, AUG's have less fucking aftermarket.

Build your own. Even if you'd never even fired an AR15 before (like me) you can still run a wrench and pliers to put all this shit together. You also get what features you want (or at least, what you think you might want) without then having a bunch of left-over generic parts swapped out from a store-bought AR.

Because we're Americans buying or building a personal weapon designed for us that might be for a purpose other than keeping us alive in war. We're all different heights and builds, so different furniture accommodates all of us.
We live in different environments with different shooting distances and types of shooting, so we need different length barrels, different optics, different accessories
Finally, we have different financial situations and priorities and while some of us need to save money were we can, some of us would like to splurge on something so personal as our primary rifle.

Maybe, but it's alg, so he saved a bunch of money and avoided buying airsoft tier chinese crap.

He might like round profile handguards, and if all he needs to mount is a front sight, he's saved a bit of weight by not having the 1913 rail run the length at 12 o clock

I built this for a friend of mine (minus the SIG laser and carrying handle) he is getting different backup sight and red dot for it later one.

It's about $600, lower receiver is bought locally and rest all off AIMSurplus it came out to about $540

I am pleasantly surprised how sturdy that MOE SL is, zero movement compare to the old MOE handguard.

AK owner here. As I progress with my AK I'm getting interested in other semi-auto rifles too. Looking at building an AR within the next couple years.
Can you tell me more about that handguard? I have Magpul's AKM handguard and I am happy with it.

Not much to tell you just mid-length handguard for AR, if you are building one you will need handguard cap for it to work it's not free float (see pic)
