>This just makes it that much more retarded surefire can't make decent lights for the price.

Yes, because more lumens = better light, as we all know, which is why chink x thousand lumen lights are the best choice for a weapon light, period. Every time I turn on my m300 I'm all like "damn, wish I weren't a dumb nigger and bought some chinkshit off Amazon for $99." Now I'm stuck with this stupid industry standard light, compact carbine light with a shit ton of mounting solutions that I know won't shit the bed on me mounted next to my brake. All that because I'm a Surefire cocksucker. Damn.

The problem is when I get a trust, I'm going to go through a lawyer to make sure it'd done right. That cost a decent chunk of money, and I can't stop spending my money on stupid shit I don't need like a M16A1 parts kit or parts to finish both of my SL8 conversions or an ACOG. Well, I kind of needed the ACOG.

But really, I need to get my trust set up. I built my new 16" AR with the intention of suppressing it after all. Still, if I were going to do a SBR 9mm build, I'd probably get a QC10 Colt lower and SBR that instead.

It shaves half of the weight off the quad rail, is much nicer to grab when bare and doesn't fuck itself up unless covered.
The guy's description should go more like
>we took the rails off you handguard so you can only put rails where you need them, which is usually less than 5% of it.
>>
>>28278064

Keymod is literally the same idea as modular shelving.

The idea is to minimize weight by not having as many goddamn rails as a train depot. So you can attach rail sections via keymod to where you need them.

But keymod isn't really well thought out, and I've heard many stories of keymod accessories loosening or outright falling off after tons of use or a sudden jarring impact like dropping the rifle
>>
>>28278113

>>
>>28278133
You file a Form 1 as a Trust, as opposed to an individual.
It allows you to bypass the CLEO signoff and shit, amd you can add your family/friends to you trust and you can share your NFA with them or they can get their own under your trust.

As a bonus, you claim a beneficiary who gets your shit if you die so there's no weird legal garbage getting in the way.
>>
>>28278064
A good modular rail weighs significantly less, is more ergonomic, and is as the name implies much more modular than any other setup.

Mlok is better though.

That's the thing: I don't really know. I'd like to talk to a lawyer and figure that out. I'm part of a pretty big family and would like to have them on the trust too. I want the trust written in such a way that they're included but also so that they can't just sell off an item if they feel like it. Granted, I don't foresee that ever happening but it's better to be safe than sorry.

I've talked to Sigbro about it before, and he convinced me to go the lawyer route. He gave some pretty good reasons, but I forget what most of them are because I'm not very well versed when it comes to trusts.

In short, I'd rather somebody who has knowledge of the legal system write my very important legal document to suit my needs.

Threadlocker + correct torque belongs everywhere. People who hand tighten shit and call it a day shouldn't be surprised when it falls off their rifles.
>>
>>28278154
I don't see how the keymod saved much weight, it covers the same area as full rails, and then you put rails on that AND THEN you put your attachment(s).

Seems like it'd be a negligible weight increase/decrease eitherway because it is a relatively small affected to beging with. IT IS another point of failure, if you use attachments. I'll keep my quadrails, skeletonized and not gonna fall the fuck off.

Are alot of people really finding their ARs THAT heavy?

How much rail estate do you actually use on your quad rail?
Also lots of shit mounts directly to keymod like pic related, which saves even more weight and bulk.

Weight up front matters. Slinging around a 20" HBAR rifle with an M5 RAS feels like you're traversing a fucking KV-2 turret.

It's lighter because it's flat surfaces with areas cut out instead of rails sticking out.

My 12" MI Keymod rail weighs something like 9 oz including the barrel nut, while my RIS II (with FSP cutout, mind you) weighs something like 17oz.

Ounces add up quick, man, especially when you're running a course of fire with it.

>Well yeah, it's an HBAR you faggot. I wonder where all the weight came from.

You asked whether people are finding ARs heavy, I answered the question. Weight near the muzzle makes a big difference in how the rifle handles.

>How much weight do you really save

Generally on the same length handguards you can save as much as 50% of the weight.

>don't imply alot of thing do or ever will mount directly to those shelves

They do and will. As keymod/mlok becomes more widespread, more companies are making direct mounts. There's absolutely no reason to use M1913 in the middle when you're building something for a different attachment system.

Light mounts, foregrips, handstops, bipod mounts, baricade supports, sling QD points... pretty much anything you can want short of direct-attach IR lasers.

Also being used on factory-produced weapons from Barret, Knight's Armament, and Accuracy International.

Mlok's just gotten picked for use by the Canadian military's new rifle.

These modular attachment systems are here to stay, and the guys that refuse to move on are missing out an some really great new stuff.

It's lighter, more ergonomic (Skinner rail with fewer hard angles)
Although people say it falls of from recoil or stupid shit like that, the truth is they probably didn't tighten their shit down enough. Almost all keymod rails have 1913 at the 12 o clock anyways, so your front sight and laser aiming module (if you have one) are safe.

>>28278096
It's actually been out for a few years, the Canadians are picking up mlok, the technology has spread to other firearms (ak pattern rifles, ruger precision rifle, for example). The US government is currently consider the m4a1+ project which considers keymod or mlok for the next generation of service rifle.

So you know, consider biting your own dick off and bleeding out.

Is that the SL lower parts kit?

$150 for everything?

I was about to get that, they were out of stock for a while...

It looks good
What upper are you going with? What other details of the build?

I just picked up this Aero Precision lower at the gun show yesterday. At the time I picked up mine 4 other guys were getting lowers. I guess building ARs is the future.

The dealer also had Anderson lowers for $55, but the finish was not as nice as the Aero Precision, also the Aero has a small logo on right hand side of the receiver as well as the fire/safe marks on both sides. Plus it can take 60 and 40 degree short throw safety selectors. Later in the build I'm seriously considering a 45 degree short throw ambi selector.

Now I'm waiting for PSA to get the Mapul SL lower parts kits with buffer tube assembly and stock to be available. Also the upper I want is out of stock as well.

Anyone have any experience with the Sightmark Eotech clones?

THE RESULTS ARE IN

So, I encountered a few issues this round.
1. The roll marks on my s&w are not as deep as the umarex .22 I did a while back. This made removing excess paint hard to do without damaging the rest of the job
2. To remove excess paint, I used hoppes oil this time, not CLP, and the hoppes was not as good at removing it as the CLP was.
3. My paints are not bright enough, so the red is almost invisible.

Overall it's good, but I'm gonna get some much brighter paint and redo it in the future some time.

M&P on the right, .22 on the left.

>Is the mount loose or something?
no, its just either too high, or too low with the spacers, but you can adjust it to work and you don't notice it, just my autism. but it's a push button not just force to side.
>How's the eye relief? Is it usable with a fully extended stock?
no, all magnifiers are basically NTCH

Ah I see, thanks for the info.

I don't like shooting NTCH at all, maybe my arms are too long or whatever but I can never get proper sight picture right off the bat. It's the main reason I prefer reflex optics or irons in the first place, with the stock fully extended I bring the rifle up and get perfect sight picture.

Does anyone make matched pair side-charging receivers with a FAL-esque dust cover for the charging handle slot?

You know, if there was one thing I had to pick I really hate about you, its your sound effects in your green text stories. Literally a wall of incomprehensible text.

Then again, it is great insight into the perception of sounds by deaf people

Alright, status update on this PoS

Wouldn't extract and was ripping rims off steel case (herters/tula/wolf) when hot.

Things changed

>BCM extractor spring kit
>honed/polished chamber
>increased buffer weight (rifle type) from ~5oz to 6.5oz
>wolff extra power spring

Took it out, test fired it and it seems to extract, eject, and cycle perfectly fine now.

Ejection pattern is consistent between 330 and 4'oclock.

Something doesn't seem right given it needs that heavy of a buffer and buffer spring to cycle reliably - any opinions?
