Killing Bin Laden was strategic but also a PR move. To keep that mission a secret would be stupid.
(As an example) No one wants to know that ISIS agents stole a nuke in Britain or say smuggled in some chemical weapons into the US. It would be a PR nightmare for us and a PR victory for them. If it stays secret (and the mission is a success) then they can't use anything that happened as a PR victory since there is no proof of that happening
