How much gear do you want to carry?
A soldier carries 6-8 magazines usually on his equipment (and 1 in the gun)
If issued a side arm, 2 magazines (and 1 in the gun)
Police might carry an additional pistol mag but 1/2 the rifle magazines.
So my FLC has 8 rifle magazines on it, and my hsgi micro rig has 3 rifle and 3 pistol (I don't have a pistol yet though, so I don't wear it much)
Since you have an ak and an ar15, I recomend hsgi taco magazine pouches. They retain and draw magaines well, and work for both ak and ar15 magazines
The pistol version will work with most pistol mags.

I do almost all of my gear shopping on skd tactical or eBay.

IFAKs in the strictest militart sense are meant to be use on yourself. That's why a lot of line units don't get NPAs and darts issued for their IFAK.
CLS bags are what house a lot of that stuff, that is why they send everyone to CLS school, so they can pick up that bag and use it, or be the guy desiganated to carry it.
I'm not trying to start a fight, honestly, just talking from my expirience.
My recommendation would be gain some proficiency with your basic gauze, TQs and all that. If you can learn how to use fancy stuff do it. Or if you roll with someone who knows how, stock it up.
My personal little gang of faggots doesn't know how to use any of it. So I have created and stocked a Firs Aid bag we carry on our expeditions, shooting, climbing, hiking.. all that. It has IVs, darts, OPAs, NPAs, suction and stuff. I will get pictures of it sometime.

Yeah I got a pair a few months back on McNiggerators suggestion. I wound up getting them in a big sale they were doing. These are the ones I have:

I mean they're alright, the cover they have is like a vinyl sort of plastic not a fabric like the .mil plates. I thought they fit my FAPC well, they were a little short up top but that was the carrier not the plates, my old plates had the same issue in the FAPC. I like the little cropped corners on the bottom. I got the shooters crop multicurve ones. They're not the heaviest plates I've owned but not the lightest either. They are the lightest standalones I've had though. Over all I trust them, but don't want to test them with me behind them. That's just stupid. Oh, they feel soft. Like there is closed cell foam underneath the outer cover on the back side, but the front is solid.
I've worked out in them quit a few times, but haven't had time recently to get out in the field with them. Give me 1.5 more hours and I'll have pictures for you.

im not going to lie to myself and say its as good as an original but its comfty compared to other set ups ive worn. so far with 8 loaded 20rd fal mags, 3 loaded 1911 mags, a 1911, binoculars ans some other random shits its held up well, i got it to carry hella water for hiking/camping but as a vest its well worth 40 bucks, it doesnt come with a water bladder btw but it will hold up to a 2.5L one, again i bought the OD green one so im not sure about the others
