>>
You have very different rifles in that list. For instance, is your preference a x54r or x39 caliber?

Get the Polish AK on their website

I bought a polish underfolder and it is literally the best AK I have personally ever shot.

This.

If you want the best quality AK you can get, at (imo) a decent price, get an SLR107, you won't regret it.

wasr because cheap and you'll be less inclined to give a fuck about it.

If you're only going to have one AK it might as well be your beater AK.
>>
I bought a WASR and its pretty nice so far, no canted sights and very little mag wobble. Shoots like a champ and with a refinish done on the furniture it looks sweet.
>>
Is there a place to buy a milsup AK, like a cheap one that JUST WERKS with original milsup parts?
>>
>>28264712
You can just buy a new one instead of milsurp, they are just as good if not better
>>
>>28264794
I like the wood stock/grip/handle models with a rugged, beater feel, so many of them like that wasr have things like a US made pistol grip.
>>
>>28264421
Or get a DDI for $250 less, with the only appreciable differences being no lefty folder and no AK103 break.
>>
>>28263376

How comfortable/uncomfortable is an underfolder? Obviously a full stock is going to feel nicer but I'm considering an underfolder AK because it's compact and sexy.

I literally just picked up a WASR yesterday. Gun is lighter than I thought it'd be and the furniture that came on it is blonde so you can stain it any color you'd like.
>>
>>28264521
This.
Works just as well as the rest.
>>
>>28264813
Polymer is better than wood for shtf but you can always get a wood folder

>>
>>28263363
Maadi's are a bit hard to find, but they are supposedly the closest thing there is to the original AK.
>>
>5.45x39
SLR-104, no question. It's either gamble with Waffen Werks or Century, or buy a fantastic rifle that works off the bat and will outlive your grandchildren. 5.45 doesn't have as many budget rifles out there as 7.62x39 does.
>7.62x39
If you want the best of the best, get a fancy Rifle Dynamics or Krebs or something along those lines.
If you want the best for the money (IMO) get an SLR-107.
If you want a slightly cheaper but still fantastic rifle get something from DDI.
If you want the cheapest but still super solid then get a WASR or a Yugo.
Avoid IO like the plague.

Thank you
>>
>>28265695
What are the main differences between the arsenal and the ddi?
>>
>>28265804
>>28265695
I should add that for both 5.45 and 7.62x39 Saigas and VEPRs are great too, but you'll need to convert them if you want them to look like a traditional AK and most first time AK buyers don't want to bother with converting.

If you have the tools and know how (and can find them for a decent price) Saigas that are converted are great and used to be super affordable. VEPRs are a little weird as they're technically RPKs rather than AKs, but they're still fairly cheap and are top quality.
>>
>>28263363
Id go for the DDI, good quality and that coating is really hard so you wont have to worry about it over the ages.
>>
>>28265845
>Arsenal
Arsenal Las Vegas' guns are converted Saigas and a few milled guns, while Arsenal Bulgaria's guns are 100% new production made in Bulgaria rifles. Arsenal's SLR series are Bulgarian and are IMO the best AKs for the money in the US. Arsenal Las Vegas' biggest sellers were the SGL series which were great, but they are just converted Saigas and since Saigas aren't imported anymore the SGLs have disappeared outside of people selling used guns for stupid money.

I have no experience with any of Arsenal Las Vegas' guns, but they're held very highly online. I own an SLR 104 and 107 from Arsenal Bulgaria and they're two of the best rifles I've ever had my hands on. I'd recommend them to anybody if they're willing to pay for them.

>DDI
Made in the US by people who know how to build AKs and are affordable. I have no first hand experience with DDI but they've exploded in popularity online and have a very, very good reputation for being great people and for building great rifles. DDI is quickly becoming the king of the mid-tier AK realm.

This post right here is correct. Tired of seeing people shit on SLR's just because they heard over the internet that DDI is cheaper and would rather parrot shit than buy either.
>>

>DDI but they've exploded in popularity online and have a very, very good reputation for being great people and for building great rifles. DDI is quickly becoming the king of the mid-tier AK realm.

The whole situation sounds way to much like WaffenWerks for me. They exploded from no where, people dickwaving everywhere over them and then Poof!

I chose to hang back for now.

>>28269454
$15-30 is norm. Bud's ships for free. Atlantic has outstanding customer service though, they charge a small premium but will back their product.
>>
>>28263408
or save for a stamp, and cut your barrel?
>>
>>28269835
Check out some reviews, plenty of people have been shooting them, displaying them, torturing them, etc. I think people are just excited about someone other than Arsenal making a good quality product for once. Barring Saigas and VEPRs that need converted.

ddi's are more of akm's, iirc they're made off of surplus hungarian parts

arsenal generally makes ak100 series which are more of the modern ak's like the ak74m and ak103

In my opinion ddi is only worth it if you specifically want an akm/akms type rifle but arsenal takes the cake in terms of actual value because the folding stock alone is ~$300 worth of parts and labor.
>>
>>28269835
the problem with waffenwerks is that their QC actually did go poof because they were trying to pump out as much shit as possible in those months to take advantage of the rush. could that happen with DDI? sure. til it happens? then they're good
>>
>>28269969
>could that happen with DDI?

You would think a company that bought the assets from someone because they fucked up making a shitty mistake would make the same mistakes? Very unlikely
>>
>>28269857
Time will tell. I hope it stays quality. Sadly I think in the near future we will be entirely dependent upon domestically produced AKs so some people need to get thier shit together.
>>
>>28264421

Probably the same thing that makes anyone on /k/ dislike a gun or manufacturer, a single anecdote they read online. Find a single flaw on a $1000 gun and poorfags everywhere will rejoice.
