Would you use .22LR for arming members of a militia?
Why and why not? (ex: cost, ammo, weight, etc)

If you're doing close range then go with a 10/22 charger. much smaller.
I think that if insurgents regularly used .22 we'd see used .22-proof soft full body armor

actually alot of soft body armor will already be taken down by .22LR rounds because they rely on surface area. The same with some lower rated ceramic plates as well.

Well for a price of $110 brand new, the availability for $13 25 round magazines, the 4.5lb rifle with an 18" barrel and its pretty damn accurate up to 100 yards.
I figure most confrontations happen within a very short distance and the idea that the size of a bullet matters to who is being shot is ridiculous, doesn't matter if you have a .22 or a 9mm, your still going to have to shoot them quite a few times or have a well placed shot. and in that effect the caliber does not matter to much...

That is on of the anticipated uses for this rifle in-fact, to arm someone cheaply with a usable rifle, its not perfect, but then again it is not 600+ dollars and need a plate carrier and backpack to supply it efficiently.
