I'm in the military and I had a drinking incident. My command made me go to an intensive out patient treatment thing. I haven't drank in a year because it's not worth the trouble.
Will that show up on a background check when I go to buy a gun or a permit for buying a gun?
The thing was just a two week alcohol is bad class. It was done on base by military personnel.

I'm not a lawyer, but I believe background checks don't pick up on voluntary psych ward visits (unless they extended your stay or wouldn't let you leave as soon as you wanted),
but do redflag on involuntary stays caused by shrinks or courts ordering it

what they are looking for is a court order signed by a judge stating it is okay to hold you against your will for treatment. If someone was given powers of attorney in your stead for the duration, thats the kind of shit that will get you flagged.
As long as a court didn't order you to go, you're fine.
