If you're going with Clancy at least choose the most /k/ Clancy
>>
I'm reading Caliphate now and its the shit. Its like Fallout meets Islamic nightmare in 100 years from now.

Everything by Matthew Bracken. Every /k/ommando needs to read all of his works.

Max Velocity, ditto.

Muh Nygguh.
That book.

The first clancy novel I ever read, I was 12. It fucking changed my life.

>tfw there were games like Rainbow Six that were made by a company founded by Tom Clancy and a Royal Navy sub captain.
>tfw it was bought out by Ubisoft in 2000
>tfw the last true Tom Clancy game was Ghost Recon
>tfw Tom Clancy is dead, but his name will continue to be defiled by the casuals.

That being said, part of me hopes pic related will be good.
>>
>>28256494
But that story was very unrealistic.
>>
>/k/: the book

(not actually as good as it looks, but still pretty good)
>>

Synopsis sounds like Young Adult shit
>>

Better than rainbow 6?

Turner Diaries.

Pretty much any novel by Frederick Forscythe; Dogs of War and Day of the Jackal to name a few.

This. Unfortunately I am not holding my breath for it

Tom Clancy is what got me into /k/-related shit.

It's a shame his work really went downhill after the Cold War.

>>28256730
I know that feel, anon. The first Clancy novel I remember reading was Sum of All Fears when I was 12.

It's not, though it's on the border of being so. It's alright sci-fi. Surprised you didn't know about it, it's pretty popular.

Also, there's a naked, soaped-up shower wrestling scene between two boys, which is ironic since the author is a fundamentalist Christian who is very outspoken against homosexuality.
>>
>>28256827
imo Without Remorse is one of his best, I like it more than Rainbow Six, but it's okay to have your own favorite senpai
>>
>>28256494
I just finish Debt of Honor so what should I read next?

>>28256778
I was excited until I saw the gameplay.

I read Red Storm Rising, Cardinal of the Kremlin, and Without Remorse in the 5th grade. That started me on my path to degeneracy and gun culture. I came from a family that as very indifferent to firearms and hunting. Bought guns as soon as I could, and now my dad and brothers have their own collections. Thanks based clancy for changing my world.

Turner Diaries
>>

there's actually some depth to the book
you'll notice some themes about Vietnam and the draft in the book

I thought of it more as a basic, primal struggle for survival than a sexual thing.

I mean, he kills the guy
>>
>>28257427
It was, but there are plenty of other ways to write in a primal struggle than a lubed-up wrestling deathmatch between naked boys.
>>

haha, I'll give you that
>>
>>28256827
Comparatively, Rainbow 6 was a shit show.
>Unrealistic
>Obvious plot
>Plot holes large enough to fit Ding's Ego into

While it was entertaining reading, and a semi informed book on what Tier1 spoopy motherfuckers are like, it was crap.

Without Remorse is... darker, dirtier, grittier, and far more adult, with more complex characters, themes, and background.

I used to have that. Humanity builds a lot of stupid weapons. It really puts it into perspective.

Maybe someone will one day make an encyclopedia that covers sex toys made the last couple thousand years...

Depending on your perspective humanity is either really creative or we just keep rehashing the same ideas over and over.

Fucking this. Clark is the best character in all of his books.

>>28256929
It also did not help that his ex-wife fucked him over hard in the divorce. Pretty much any money he made off Jack Ryan books went straight to her. It's why his later works were mostly written by that one guy who he just gave all his notes too and why he had to invent the Jack Junior books.

The alpha was fucking awesome. Literally the only thing I'm looking forward too as far as games go.

/k/ might not like the feel of the guns, but since it's RPG focused versus FPS or even straight TPS the damage models reflect that.

That being said, the feel of the game, the combat, the atmosphere, is fucking great.

This is the cover for Gust Front.

It takes place in an alternate 1990s where, following the collapse of the USSR, a global trade war fractures the NATO alliance.

France + Germany, being the largest of the European economies, end up being the banks for several of the smaller nations, who essentially enslave them economically.

Definitely check out the book though, it's pretty sweet imo.
>>
>>28260647
It's only 'obvious' because the book is fucking old. And you'd be surprised how many people miss the obvious, even now.

Given the tech available at the time he wrote it, it would have made a lot more sense to place webcams with good fields of view throughout every city, and then turn a few buildings inside (and a few outside) each city into artillery emplacements, controlled remotely, all connected by a physically separated network to keep hackers from terrorizing the city. A "defense grid" of sorts.

Of course, the whole series has a built-in excuse for why dumb decisions (like putting rare and valuable humans in charge of engineering and navigation on spaceships, when an all-Indowy crew with a human captain to say "Fire!" and a human gunner to push a button would be superior) kept being made throughout the war: any ideas that were considered "too smart" by the Darhel were memory-holed and the innovators perished in "accidents".
