why?

to look badass while holding a garand of course
would you rather fuck with the guy holding a garand while smoking a lucky strike, or the guy just holding a garand?

the guy smoking. he's out of shape and will probably die before he has a chance to shoot me. plus he spends all of his money on getting cancer, so he probably can't afford ammo.

You are my type of fucking man.
Bumping with photos of Garands from the CMP forum.
I just put in my first order last week.
I guess it's technically from after the war but was based on a design from before...

>tfw only field grade
I bought my M1 five or six years ago from a local Vietnam Vet before I knew about the CMP for $650. I still know little about M1s or how the CMP grades their rifles, so can someone tell me how collectible or "desirable" this rifle is and what CMP grade it would be if I were to buy it today?
It's all HRA parts with serial numbers dating them between 1954-1956 minus a higher serial numbered Springfield oprod and a CMP replacement stock. There is very little wear on any of the parts, minus what wear I've put on them over the years.
No plans on selling and I don't care about desirability, I'm just curious.

Largely depends on bore and throat erosion. Do you know what it gauges at. Sound like a typical CMP gun probably like service grade. You could get 800 for it easy enough. There are plenty of people who can't be bothered meeting the CMP requirements who will pay a premium over the CMP price.
The only store in my town that has a large amount of garands sells them for 1400-1600. I wish I had one, I have around 3000 saved, maybe I'll get myself a christmas gift. At least I have my M1917.
If anyone knows, am I better off just firing M1 ball through this, or can I use other .30-06 rounds?

The only thing I miss is a ww2 correct black cracke zippo. they make them as replicas now for the same price as regular zippos
