Well, that's one thing, but honestly there's no such thing as originality. But a bunch of the flying just felt meh. The last dogfight was pretty good, especially with the first person cockpit views. But everything seemed to turn on a dime, and were all the fuck over the place. The edgy kid with daddy issues (which that kid is /r9k/ as fuck) and half the people in charge of the FO seem too immature or just don't really fit the role of how hardcore they're supposed to be. I can get over the stormtrooper armor being featureless as fuck, at least they're shown being seriously alpha as fuck. Unless someone is shooting them with the cannons of their x-wing, and it looks like a regular asshole shot him, but some dick's hand blaster looks like a howitzer shell hit. I might just be too picky since we've been getting dodgy quality shows and games lately.

Disney made a great work at handling what could have been a huge fucking storm of bullshit. They laid the foundations for the future episodes, where they will have more freedom to handle the universe, now that with TFA they satisfied the hunger for "true star wars" that everyone had.
Yes, this also means that TFA is a bit of a rehash, it may be its biggest issue but it was the only way to make it, really.

Phasma gets forced at gunpoint to raise the shields of a base, she doesn't really put any resistance, just shouts the usual DO YOU REALLY THINK THIS WILL WORK? MY MEN WILL KILL YOU! While, realistically, such a character would rather say "kill me, I don't give a shit".
Then she just disappears out of scene.

There's two main guesses at this:
a) the "Jedi spark thing" in Rey awakened, R2-D2 felt it (he's been around the strongest force users in the universe for a while, I'm sure they can shoehorn his force-sensing abilities in.) and knew it was the signal to show the map.
b) Luke is pretty much a demigod with rough divination abilities by now, it's not unheard of. He sensed what had happened, and knew the moment was right. He sent a signal to R2 which woke up and knew what to do.
In any case, it'll be explained in the next movie - that's kinda the point, create hype.
