Denmark has ordered 309 Piranha Vs from GDELS (MOWAG) to replace their M113s with an option to fill that number to 450.

This is hot on the heels of a Lithuanian buy for 88 of ARTEC's Boxer with Germany also ordering an additional 131 more Boxers.

Where's the love for the 8x8s.

anon's interested in military procurement would probably have noticed if you posted it in the /thg/ thread

300 vehicles is a huge order for a country the size of Denmark.

So Denmark finally placed the order.

Why doesn't the Marine Corps just replace the LAV-25 with the piranha V.... FUCK I would reenlist if I could fix them instead of outdated LAVs

General Dynamics didn't make the short-list.

It's between BAE Systems/Iveco with a modified SuperAV and SAIC/ST Kinetics with the Terrex 2.

That's for the replacement of the AAV though. The Marine Corps is not planning on replacing the LAV-25 series AFAIK.

The LAV's engine, the Detroit Diesel 6V53T, isn't even produced anymore. All the blocks that are in the fleet right now are refurbs being pushed out by general dynamics and depot level maintenance facilities. The hulls can be repaired and upgraded as needed, but the engine is not such a simple matter. It would be more convenient to just adopt a new light armored reconnaissance vehicle to supplement and eventually replace the 25 Series

SIGH

Fuck denmark

It's possible that the SuperAV will slowly take over the LAV-25's role. It's meant to take the AAV's role and still be able to operating far inland as a regular IFV. It'd make sense if they just stuck a turret on it and used it as their LAV replacement so they wouldn't have to deal with maintaining 2 separate sets of parts for wheeled IFVs

GD will probably bid their LAV 6.0 for Australia's CRV tender for 225 vehicles to replace the ASLAVs.

Competitors are:

BAE Systems Australia/Patria with the AMV with the E35 turret off the CV9035
Rheinmetall Australia/ARTEC with the Boxer and Lance turret
Elbit Systems Australia/ST Kinetics with the Terrex 2 with the MT30 turret
Thales Australia/GDLS-C with the LAV 6.0, unknown turret but could be the MCT30 that the US will put on their Strykers

Not enough monies to justify a fleet wide replacement I guess.

They'll just have to tough it out.

>Terrex

America should be ashamed, buying shitty second-rate ripoffs from the Chinks instead of a European country. This puts them on the same level almost as the Britcucks.

The Terrex looks pretty good.

Wouldn't mind either it or the SuperAV for the ACV.

Because Piranha V isn't amphibious

Can someone buy me, please?

That feeling when GDLS always puts either the LAV or Piranha out for the tenders.

Being GDELS-Steyr is suffering.

Bit embarrassing that the Austrians can't afford to buy their own vehicles for their military

nice try m8 saic is an american company they did the 911 report
>>
>>28253703
Terrex is from Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd though. They're partnered with SAIC to sell it in the US like BAE partnered with IVECO from Italy to sell SuperAV.

The US-designed vehicles were from GDLS, Lockheed and Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems

>The US-designed vehicles were from GDLS, Lockheed and Advanced Defense Vehicle Systems
The GDLS entry was a Piranha variant and Lockheed's was a Patria knockoff that they quickly developed after stealing data from them
>>
>>28254782
No wonder they got BTFO

doesn't that weigh like 30 tons?

so much for the 8x8 wheeled vehicles having faster deployment

Piranha III without the stryker shit
