Alright, I'm curious if someone with some more knowledge on the subject than me can help educate us on what went on in Fallujah.

Everyone knows it had some of the firecest fighting of the Iraq War.

But everytime it comes up, I hear people go 'The Army fucked it up and the Marines had to fix it! and then at the same time I hear 'The Marines fucked it up and the ARMY had to fix it!'

Can we get an unbiased account of what really happened?

I was there. Essentially this poster nailed it. But remember we went in twice. First we went in, chased out the bad guys and then left so the bad guys came back. Thesecond time we pulled the civilians out and out them in camps for a few weeks and fed them while we went into their city and butt fucked the bad guys.
There were reports of us shooting civilians trying to swim across the river to escape. This is a lie. Insurgents were trying to lead a water born counter offensive, we got Pos ID on weapons floating across...we shot the inflatable rafts. Some insurgents tried firing from their floats when we told them to surrender with a spot light and loud speaker.
We also straffed the fuck out of an unoccupied island in the river as a show of force. The US media reported that this was our opening salvo on the city (to remind you it was an island we hit and we had extracted civilians from the city so wtf?)
This is all off the top of my head. I was a Specialist at the time and it was what? 11-13 years ago?

>>
There were two attempts to take the city. The first failed because the terrorists were much better armed than we thought. I think the marines attempted the first assault.

The second assault was more methodical and there was a lot more aerial bombing and close air support brought in. The army did the second assault.

The terrorists had rigged every street with explosives, ied's, booby trapped houses, so all these were bombed from the air for a while before the city was taken.

3rd armored cavalry gets put in charge of a large city. Very small unit, too small for such a large area, also prone to shooting children.

3rd ID gets sent to reinforce them. 3rd AD removes base from inside fallujah, 3rd ID doesn't set up a new base in fallujah and just ignores it in between mounting elaborate counter-insurgency focused bicycle stealing operation.

Big Mosque explodes killing big imam guy who everyone liked and who had been keeping things fairly together in fallujah. Everyone blames the 3rd ID for the explosion.

3rd ID continue stealing bicycles, mercenary groups get caught hunting children for sport inside city.

Finally kidnappings of contractors and some 3rd ID troops occurs, everyone tries to negotiate things to get them released, ultimately some are released, others will be executed.

Muhreens get sent into fallujah and try to set up base during negotiations. During unilateral ceasefire by muhreens, carbomb blows up giant sculpture made of stolen bicycles the 3rd had made. Also 4 PMCs in convoy sending cutlery supplies to fallujah muhreen base gets fucked up by militants, all 4 PMCs are set on fire, rolled around until the fire gets put out, dragged from the rear of cars, beaten, then burned again.

Muhreens lose shit at thought of not getting new cutlery, begin seige of city in First Battle of Fallujah. Attempt to get Iraqi security involved leads to iraqi security melting and leaving only their uniforms behind, muhreens blame lack of decent cutlery and begin doing sweeps and what effectively amounts to figuring out who, in a large angry mob in a large angry city, was specifically responsible for burning cutlery delivery drivers to death. Locals are uncooperative, Muhreens start shooting any males who look old enough they see and close down the only hospital. This, surprisingly to Muhreens, leads to every single male in the city taking up arms against them.

40 dead muhreens and 700 fallujahns by end of first battle.

> On 28 April, a crowd of approximately 200 people gathered outside the school past curfew, demanding that the Americans vacate the building and allow it to re-open as a school. The protesters became increasingly heated, and the deployment of smoke gas canisters failed to disperse the crowd.[14] The protest escalated as gunmen reportedly fired upon U.S. forces from the protesting crowd and U.S. Army soldiers from the 1st Battalion of the 325th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 82nd Airborne Division returned fire, killing 17 people and wounding more than 70 of the protesters. There were no U.S. Army or coalition casualties in the incident. U.S. forces said that the shooting took place over 30–60 seconds, however other sources claim the shooting continued for half an hour.[15]

Army hears about destruction of kick ass stolen bicycle statue 3rd ID had made getting destroyed, say fuck it, and make Muhreens back off and negotiate a truce.

Army, in typical army fashion, decide it'd be best if a local iraqi in charge of a local iraqi force of 1000 people is put in charge of city. Army's first pick, the former iraqi general who gassed the kurds that one time, is rejected by local militias and so US Army replace him with another hussein era general who accepts most of the insurgents who'd just been fighting the muhreens as "soldiers", and the US even helps arm and hand out saddam era uniforms for them to all wear.

General is briefly spotted boarding a plane bound for UAE before US Army realises what has happened, meanwhile Fallujah's streets are covered in banners declaring insurgent victory over US forces and carbombs are constantly tossed at US road check point leading from fallujah to Baghdad.

US air force is given go ahead to "soften up" city by blowing up restaurants militants are thought to hang out at.

Furthermore, another siege is implemented and anyone spotted by muhreens nightsights out after curfew is summarily executed by muhreen squads.

Finally, after 4 months of picking at the scab that is Fallujah, a full assault is made by Muhreens in the SECOND battle of Fallujah. Which begins by the muhreens taking over and arresting anyone in the city's only hospital and then proceeds to move through all of the city's mosques, killing anyone who resists, and capturing anyone who doesn't, ultimately destroying 60 of the city's 100 mosques. White phosphorous will be used in this assault to an extent that there are "friendly fire" WP injuries sustained by US troops.

By the end of it, 1200 insurgents will have been killed, 1000 captured, 71 US personnel and 8 iraqi army soldiers will have died. To this day, Fallujah still has no internet access and is currently occupied by ISIS.

What, Tomahawks with W80s? It was filled with Sunni insurgents, not necromorphs. Turning it into glow in the dark glass wouldn't have been appropriate.

Tomahawks with any other warhead? They already had plenty of firepower available. Deploying it effectively was the problem because of the need to clearly identify targets.

I thought ISIS grew out of AQ in Syria, who then moved into Iraq which I guess at that point AQI joined their ranks.
>>
>>28239714
ISIS was always in Iraq and never really left, but they used the Syrian civil war to move into eastern Syria to set up a base. Kind of like in Vietnam how Cambodia and Laos were used by the NVA/VC. They used the base in Syria to essentially invade northern Iraq.

Nusra was actually part of ISIS originally but the leader of Nusra didn't want to share power and broke off and pledged allegiance to regular Al Qaeda.

I think Al Qaeda in Iraq started calling itself ISIS in about 2009-2010.

Juba is not a single man, you propaganda swallowing nitwit.

"Juba" was "confirmed" by the insurgents to be the sniper behind almost every successful sniper attack on US forces, including some that happened hundreds of miles apart on the same day.

This is why American brass never seemed serious about hunting him, you might as well have asked the FBI what they are doing to shut down the internet terrorist who goes by the screenname of "anonymous" on the "social media" website 4Chan.

I helped bust up one of the "Juba" camera vans/mobile sniper posts in Anbar, the guys running it were Bosniaks.

In post invasion Iraq, you could not.

Any good road had road blocks, any road without road blocks were bombed to shit and wouldn't let you drive with any speed, fuel was hard to come by and JSTARS were tasked with identifying vehicles following patterns like road block evasion.

Juba exists only in propaganda. If there was ever a real sniper who inspired the idea of Juba, he was certainly killed before he achieved enough fame to be on the Brass's radar.

PM 100% accurate. Army brass thought they could fuck with the corrupt Iraqi's in order to spare Marines/Army (both) having the suffer casualties and fight it out. It wasn't a bad plan it just didn't work, and the two staffs did not agree on the strategy causing further complications.

The last fight the Army and Marine Corps, together, both very frustrated felt no mercy. The 2nd Battle of Fallujah is best described as the city was Sacked, all military aged men were killed or captured, period.

Those army kids are so brainwashed it hurts to say this but if they didn't get paid they wouldent fight. I must also say if they knew who their real enemy was they wouldent have been in the army in the first place. The media and schools in America blast propaganda so hard on kids these days they would rather kill and be "glorious" than read and struggle but I don't blame em', follow the money trail.... It leads to the real criminal. If any war veterans are reading this I hope you don't make your life any harder on yourself and just try to understand who(Rothschild, Murdoch, Silverstein, ect...) is starting g the wars and for what reasons.

I promise one day the world will look back on those events with better days in heart but for now we still have men around the world dancing for them dollars... Bloody fuckin hell.

>We sure as fuck were not running around executing people for the hell of it.
Let me explain.
Every time I talk to Muricans, they are always so self-righteous and have a reason for everything they do.

You cannot point out a mistake and they immediately go: "yes, BUT...". But what?
They usually repeat some bullshit they've been told to be the truth, and basically will never see your point, however cogent it is, because they do not even entertain the possibility of having got some facts wrong. They are in perpetual denial of mistakes.

Consider, e.g. the story of randomly shooting restaurants "terrorists hang around". Of course I know that you were not doing things at random.
I am pretty sure there were informants, intellogence officers, and orders about "smoking those bastards' then". Or bullshit like "they hide among the people" (instead of insurgents ARE the people).

So I don't doubt that for the American eyes those attacks were 100% legit. They were not because facts, but because yoi are so good at creating a narrative around your actions that you never step forward without a sense of self-righteousness and fulfillment following you in your steps.

80% of your intelligence is not about checking facts, but about cherry picking reasons that fit your pseudo-democratic narrative.

That's how I read your comments, anon.
"MUH WE HAD REASONS TO DO SO".
of course you had, my dear. You are very good at making things up and believe the story you're telling.

1- people who couldn't be doctors anywhere else (no malpractice :D)
2- people who can't afford to pay through college, get the expertise in the military
3- people who are just nationalistic and okay with the lower pay if it means serving.

The brave sand niggers would mingle in large crowds and pop off rounds at us then run leaving the crowd of filthy shiftless muds between us and them. Yeah, a few of them caught rounds, but you leftist leaning apologists should know that we (US ARMY/Marines) never intentionally randomly fired at people. However, some of "friends in the SAS ROUTINELY did, especially in the Shia controlled areas.

The question all of you should be asking is why the fuck we were there in the first place.

Yeah, I'm sure all modern militaries are entirely composed of mercenaries and brainwashed drones. I'm sure nobody fights because of outdated ideals like patria and altruism.

Not to mention that the social situation of a good part of the population in most regions where the develloped countries aren't watching is quite bad (read : nightmare inducing) by our standards. Pre-age of enlightenment ideology, and the powers in place will crush the populace to keep them in check, sometimes literally.
You know, you can't cry about those poor people and how the first world doesn't do anything, and then be outraged when the military actually goes there. Pick one, and realize that there will be horrors commited either way.

It was meant as a non-insulting joke, so I'm glad you didn't take it as an insult.

I've noticed that people in the service are great or shit based on whether or not they are great or shit, not by how they look. I've met hard looking guys who were in gangs who were great people to be around and guys who grew up in the suburbs who were poisonous personalities that made everything they were involved in bad somehow. In short, you posted you, you seem like a good guy, and I believe you. Thanks for being a good sport. I know the thread's getting long, but I hope you see my response.
