Just looked into some of it, all I can find are big industrial machines. How can cold forging be done at home by hand?

From the shape, those are cast- not swaged/forged. Lame advertisement, but okay whatever.
>>
Was cold forging the ideal means of producing ammo in 1800s or 1700s? I imagine with all those industrial machines it would be more ideal than casting. Are lead cores in modern ammunition cold forged?

too many lead fumes, seller forgot what forged meant.

> He doesn't know about the kits that make .224 jacketet bullets from lead and .22 rimfire brass

Look up "single stage press swaging"

That said, they are very expensive, time consuming, and not worth it considering the price of factory second .224 is like 0.06/bullet shipped.

How the fuck does one forge a bullet?

Maybe it really was "hand-forged"

> I am Hæphestus, God of the forge.
> From my mighty hammer and solid anvil, I have worked craft that would make mere mortals weep.
> Behold, I work this soft metal into a perfect cylinder with a thousand blows of the hammer
> Now with a small peen, I hammer in ridges with ten thousand blows.
> Ribbedforherpleasure
> with one mighty sheer blow, I perfectly sever the cylinder to a precise length without decreasing its concentricity
> Behold! My forged craft!
> Wait, you want 100 of these for $9.99? Zeus damnit

And yet no mighty blow from the hammer can sever the a from the e.

It's technically called swaging. You can get swaging dies for your reloading presses from places like corbin. You generally need a real swaging press to do lead much past 12 BHN or stuff with copper jackets, but muzzleloader stuff is pretty easy.
