>What gives you guys feels?

It's so disheartening to me when you have friends who you've known for years and have always been pretty amiable with, and you see them start sharing bullshit on facebook and obnoxiously spouting anti gun rhetoric several times a day after a mass shooting happens. Fuck, I hate it. I always just end up blocking my newsfeed from showing posts from them instead of engaging because they're my friends and I hate arguing with them. Random people and celebrities don't bug me one bit, but friends being retarded gun grabbers just hits way too close to home for me.

I have some friends who are anti-gun and some who are pro-gun but also pro-restriction. It's important to recognize the difference.

The anti-gun people can't be argued with. We just agree to not bring up the subject in each other's company.

The pro-restriction people can be reasoned with. They agree that the Second Amendment is a thing and (agree with it or not) it is an inherent right given to Americans. They aren't as concerned about law-abiding citizens having guns and are really just concerned with keeping guns out of the hands of criminals.

All they truly want is the gunshow loophole closed.

I had my girlfriend and several other mates I'd had for years cut off contact with me when I bought a rifle. They told me they didn't feel safe around someone who would have a gun in their home. Thing is they were cool with the idea of firearms and even loved action films and call of duty till they all went to this same uni where the extreme left mindset just brushed off on them I guess.

This happened about 6 months ago. It doesn't make me "feel", it just hurts.

>>
>>28097703
Private sales would be easier to regulate if they were treated like cars or something.

If you make a sale, you go to the sheriff's department or something and tell them, "Hey, I just sold this pistol, serial number 123 to so-and-so. Here's a copy of the bill of sale."

Then so-and-so has to report to the sheriff of his own county with "Hey, I just bought this pistol, serial number 123 from so-and-so. Here's a copy of the bill of sale."

Just track every gun, as ridiculously paperworkful as that sounds.

If a firearm registered to you is found in someone else's possession and you didn't report it stolen, then you've got a problem too.

If we, as gun owners, accede to the more reasonable requests from the gun control people, then they will be more likely to compromise and let us keep our AR15s. Don't fall for the NRA's fear mongering, a big percentage of liberals are gun owners too.

I think this is the first time I have been alright with something like that. I might actually write my congressman about this and try and introduce it. We can say we closed the infamous "Gun Show Loophole," without registration, without taxation, without frustration. I didn't read that as registration, though. If that was his intent then he can fuck right off, but I took it more as a "let someone know" type deal with a serial and name generally attached to someone by paperwork, not a formal system of registration and a registry or whatever. That's already there from FFL sales because of the 4473 and sales paperwork.

>>28097896
While I understand you reaction, and it's not wrong, I would say that there's definitely a scale to these things. There's "We need a revolution against the babbykilling hatemurderers with assault weapons," there's "Come on, fellow Americans! Here's fallacious Everytown stats, text "Enough" to 833-833!"

And then, from foreign nations without a strong precedence of gun rights, of an intrinsic, God-given right to be armed; without a history of a nation built upon the victory of a rebel force armed equally with the tyrannical government they overthrew, there's a casual bit. With Paris, the Planned Parenthood thing, and now San Bernardino within the space of a month, gun control rhetoric is constant and all-encompassing, in media domestic and foreign. In the scale of things, a "Come on, gun control" thing with little pretension and, frankly, an image that verges on tongue-in-cheek humor isn't a strong condemnation or statement. It's routine, it's tame.

Mass shootings continue because of the 24/7 coverage of them in modern American media. Any NEET loser can become nationally known if they just shoot up a public space, their faces shown all over North America for weeks and even months. Europeans have beaten American high scores on several occasions, but mass shootings have fallen off because they receive no where near the amount of attention. The handling of mass shootings is frankly disgusting and directly contributes to future occurrences.

What if it's handled like a drivers licence?

You get a background check and if it comes back clear you are issued with a licence.

With this you can buy whatever the fuck you want as long as you show that you have the card.

Nothing is tracked and you no longer have to fill out forms for every gun.

This means you still get your unregistered freedoms but also is a barrier for convicted felons/criminals/mentally unstable people.
>>
>>28098176
Well, the analogy breaks down. You need a license for big rigs and motorcycles, so I'm assuming you'd need similar clearance to buy a LAW
>>
>>28098176
That's kinda how we do it in Canada, however we have the additional restriction of having different classes of firearms. 'non-restricted' is how you describe it, what you buy/own isn't tracked and you can use them where/when you like.

>>28098191
It sounds like a good system, but then again, you Canadians are too polite to shoot each other at the same rate we do. If you started up, I don't think it would be very long before Canada had national registration/tracking etc.

>>28098176
The flaw I see in this is a situation where I legally buy a couple of AR15s and then sell them to a friend of mine who is schizophrenic. Then he shoots up a Chuck-e-cheese.

Am I partly to blame because I sold the guns to someone without a license?

I have the right to sell my own personal property, of course, but what responsibility do I have to make sure that I only sell to the right people.

I can't sell my legally obtained alcohol and cigarettes to children, after all, even though I am the legal owner of said alcohol and cigarettes,

>>
>>28098240
I think that would be a good compromise: I can have whatever I want, you can know that I have it.

>>28098228
You could have the licenses issued by state Sheriffs departments, with a stipulation in the law that data on who has licenses cannot be disclosed to anyone other than a governmental agency for the purpose of a specific criminal investigation, and even then, they have to specifically request data by name and SSN of their suspect.

I'd prefer this to NICS honestly, because (in theory) it would eliminate the Form 4473 and background check for every single FFL purchase.

Imagine if you could buy guns the same way you buy liquor: guy at the counter swipes your license, if it comes back valid you sign for your purchase and leave. No individual forms to fill out, no standing around waiting for NICS to come back, no possibility of a "maybe" from NICS, and just generally no bullshit.
>>

I still strongly dislike the idea of a Firearm Ownder ID Card. With 4473 that information is destroyed after 20 years, which is a long time but after that the firearm doesn't exist as far as the government is concerned. A FOID, even if the data was destroyed after some period of time, would need to be continuously renewed if you wanted to continue to purchase/trade firearms.

Unless you plan on it not applying for private sales in which case why bother.

>>

No. I wasn't endorsing a gun registration, just pointing out that car registration is not inherently mandatory.

As I mentioned earlier, registration always leads to confiscation. It already happened here in Canada with the first-gen type 97s.

>kind of people who OC just to provoke other
Confirmed for not understand the point of obnoxious rifle oc. The fucking president of the nation, along with numerous well-funded lobby groups, is not calling for a ban on discreetly carried handguns. They want "assault weapons" banned from private ownership, because psychos go on shooting sprees with them now and then.

The people who open carry are intentionally doing it to be attention whores. It is to show the public that normal people who do normal, everyday stuff, are the kind of people who own these salt weapons. They're showing the public that it's not only spree shooters who own ARs and AKs. It's political activism, and it has to get people's attention in order to be effective. Because if people start to associate salt rifles with annoying oc-ers instead of murderers, maybe they won't be so quick to call for mass prohibition and confiscation.

Why
>>

he has multiple sclerosis??? FFFUUUUUUUGGG
>>

Because we don't need "more laws" or "more regulation." Firearm homicides account for less than 12k deaths per year (most gang/criminals). Drunk driving kills 9-10k per year. "Assault rifles" kill less people annually than pools (cdc.gov, fbi.gov).

"Gun control" is a relative non-issue used for political posturing at best and potential 2nA dismemberment at worst.

>inb4 durr better background checks um need registry
Yea no. How many background checks did Obama/ilk perform on FSA Syrian rebels before arming them with TOW missiles and full-retard guns? None. Oh shit - most of the FSA defected and sold the free shit we gave them/joined ISIS. Imagine that. Yet somehow "domestic terrorists" are the real problem. Mhmmhm. Yup.

You you go from SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED to:
National Firearms Act (NFA) (1934)
Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968
Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA) (1968)
Firearm Owners Protection Act (FOPA) (1986)
Undetectable Firearms Act (1988)
Gun-Free School Zones Act (1990)
Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act (1993)
Federal Assault Weapons Ban (1994–2004)
+other smaller bills, plus god-knows-what state by state, plus the rabid push for more and more gun control

But sure; I'm sure if you concede just a couple more times then the anti's won't at all just push for the next item on their list and leave you be, that's what has always happened up until now, in every country...

It will never be enough, not until we're left with nothing, and then they'll start trying to ban airguns, airsoft, and pointy knives. Make no mistake, people ARE coming for your guns, but it is a slow process in which gun owners must be complicit. A process were gun owners must be like you. It is something which takes years - lifetimes even! - but it happened, and not in some door to door SWAT raids, but rather through legislation and calls for safety. were we forget what we had, what we have already lost through apathy and ignorance, and will continue to fall down into.
This time last century the UK was awash with firearms. Anyone, lord or plebeian could walk into a hardware shop in London, purchase a revolver, load it up, stick it in his waistband and be on his way. We celebrated firearms ownership as something sacred to defend one's life, liberty, and property, we looked at the US and and thought of you as cute with your guns, yet now we're here, totally and royally keked and it certainly isn't going to be changing any time soon.

dont try to relate some 3rd world shit in to this, also even if "more laws" or "more regulation" were added, would it really change anything? i mean if somebody really would want a gun (i'm gonna throw just as absurd reference) like in japan, they would get a gun, ALL that trouble to get that gun does not revome the fact that the person could still commit crime with it.
but back in some sort of plane of reality, on which country mass shootings are more common? ( original us vs germany)
something is working better on the country that has less mass shootings.
also just to question something we both hopefully agree, is: how many times mass shooters were stopped by actual law abiding citizens rather than cops or suicide, and why it doesnt make it in to news as positive firearm related news? why are guns demonized?

Wow, tinfoil hat much?

No one is coming to get your guns. Literally no one.

On top of that, there is literally NO right that is not subject to caveats in the name of an ordered society.

Freedom of speech? Can't yell "fire!" in a crowded theater
Freedom of religion? Can't sacrifice people to the hungry volcano god.
Freedom of the press? Can't publish state secrets
Freedom to bear arms? Can't have a nuclear weapon.

Don't get distracted, don't derail the end goal: keep guns out of the hands of criminals.

It's the numbnuts who insist on bringing an AK-47 into a Wal-Mart just because they can, scaring the shit out of all the normies, that make all the normies think that ALL guns are dangerous.

tl;dr: if you go out of your way to make people scared of you, people will react in a way that will reduce your level of scariness.

Other than a sitting US Senator :^)
>>
>>28101374
Please tell me you are unaware that Senators and Congressmen routinely propose bills that they know have no chance in hell of ever passing just to score political points with their donors and constituents.

Look at the six thousand votes to repeal Obamacare. Do they do it because they hope that Obama will forget to veto one of them or do they do it to keep the repeal of Obamacare in the news and show the voters back home, "See? I tried to get rid of it."

First, any law that confiscates everyone's guns would get shot down by SCOTUS immediately. It's easily unconstitutional.

Secondly, no one who wants to get re-elected would ever vote for that because they would get the shit primaried out of them. 41% of conservative households are gun owners, but also 24% of self-described liberal households are gun owners.

Again, no one is coming for your guns.

They had grenade launchers on them. The G/L
device alone is regarded as a destructive device and is considered intrinsically illlegal even when removed from the rifle. You can sleeve, pin or weld these G/Ls to render them into non-G/S.

>Like how during Hurricane Katrina they confiscated guns?
Yes, and it spurred multiple lawsuits resulting in the Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006. The government panicked and fucked up, it admitted that it fucked up and put a law in place to make sure it doesn't fuck up the same way.
>>

antigunners are not as numerous as you think. They are probably as common as people who don't believe there should be any restrictions whatsoever and that people should be allowed to own artillery pieces.

In the large, sadly silent middle are the 80% of gun owners who agree that sensible restrictions like universal background checks, registration, safety education, etc are good things.

A good guy with a gun is not the easiest or most reliable way to stop a bad guy with a gun; just prevent the bad guy from getting a gun in the first place.

I live in New Hampshire, not Tennessee.

Around here, gun owners, particularly the wealthier and better-educated ones, recognize the awesome responsibility that comes with gun ownership, not just the "yee-haw!" part.

Just as it is every gun owner's responsibility, for example, to teach the little kids in the house to "never, ever touch or play with daddy's guns" and then lock them up anyway, we collectively must ensure that we are responsible gun owners as a society. That means education, keeping track of them, and making sure that people who should never have guns can't get them.

If we refuse to accept the responsibilities that come with our rights, then we're clearly not able to handle those rights. The "well-regulated" part of the Second Amendment is as important a part as "shall not be infringed".

>Can't yell "fire!" in a crowded theater
Actually, you can. No one is stopping you from saying it; in fact if there is a fire that only you are aware of, it's quite prudent to yell "Fire!". What that expression means legally is that if you do yell "FIre!" in a crowded theater falsely, you can be held liable for any damages and injuries caused. In other words, you have to take responsibility for your freedom of speech.

>Can't sacrifice people to the hungry volcano god.
True, only because that would be infringing on the rights to life of other people. Pretty sure you can sacrifice a cow or something else as long as you follow whatever butchering laws are required.

>Can't publish state secrets
The fact that you can't publish state secrets doesn't mean you can have a newspaper or blog. Just like how I can't say my right to bear arms is infringed since I can't legally shoot at random stop signs. It's that much of a non-issue.

>Can't have a nuclear weapon.

I legit had an online conversation with a Scottish chick that told me I should take a self defense class rather than get a CCW. She knew I'm disabled. When I pointed out the obvious she just got super pissed, quickly repeated the same tired rhetoric, and stopped responding.

Poor Britain… just can't get rid of those keks.

It's up on a Mountain range too, so the road is really shitty and windy and has no room for bikes, otherwise I'd ride/hike just to see the facilities/see if I could rent something.

Tried asking local shooters if they'd take me with 'em and Id pay for fuel, ammo and beer, but always decline asking me to at least do the safety course.

Everybody's scared of somebody shooting some cunt, fucks sake I'm 22 years old, you'd think 22 year olds would be smart enough to keep finger off the bang switch and barrel at the dirt.

Bill wasn't specific. Maybe he meant "vote to change things so guns are more available to defend yourself".
Unlikely since Bill is pretty left, but I can hope
Logical, also open up NICS to civilians, and require a background search for private sales as well. As that is Currently a MASSIVE loophole for felons to acquire weapons
>>
>>28098050
We've had mass killings since PA, but we didn't have many mass shootings before either. New Zealand which does not make semi auto centrefire / shotguns insanely hard to get, hasn't had any before or since.

yeah it costs, but it's really not that bad - buy safe, get licence, dynabolt safe in yourself, buy 300 dollar Norinco .22 Brno clone if you're a poorfag and start plinking at the range.

>then they will be more likely to compromise and let us keep our AR15s

You've already lost the battle against the gun grabbers if this is your attitude. We have "compromised" enough. Those "compromises" have been nothing but incrementally giving up our rights, and/or putting us in legal danger for exercising our fundamental rights.

They want to literally criminalize owning firearms outside the context of committing an actual crime.

The only way your proposal would mean anything, is if you criminalize the lack of paperwork filed in a government registry of firearm ownership and transfers. You are literally advocating that people be put in prison because a piece of paper doesn't exist, which is the real crime.

That is a bolt action mane. Best bet if you're poor is to get Norinco .22, cheap 12ga and .223 Howa, cause they're all the cheapest to feed. No cheap nuggets / nugget food here, and shooting centrefire anything a lot will send you broke. .223 is somewhat better priced though ($18 or so a pack vs $30-45 for .30cal centrefire).

Germany has shit gun laws. That's probably why. Immigrating and wanting to make the laws of a new country like the ones in your old country is problematic.

Isnt that one of the biggest issues people have with refugees? Them coming to a new country and trying to get laws from their old country passed.
>>
>>28106308
Refugees are but a small sector of immiration... but yes, demographic threats (whether cultural, racial or political) is one of the biggest fears behind anti-immigration sentiments (especially when the demographic of immigrant in question is known both for poor assimilation and high birth rates).

Obama giving his speech at 8pm EST and mentions gun control. I went to get some AR food at the Wallyworld and there was a huge line behind me waiting to get any rifle ammo in the locked case. Sporting Goods woman said I bought up the last AR ammo they are going to ever have in that store; AK ammo was gone the day before.

Get your fucking lowers as soon as fucking possible because it is about to get banned. I need to order 2 here in a few hours. It's coming, guys.
