Ordered two vkt m39s from classic. Anyone have any they ordered as well? Pics?

Also what is a good ammo besides the surp? I hear bullets in the 180 grain area do better than the149 stuff.
>>
Bought one today also. Glad they got more in stock.
>>
>>28092607

can confirm the heavy ball shoots well. did you get hand select or no?
>>
>>28093355
No hand select just two regular.
>>
>go on classic
>everything is sold out

well then
>>
>>28092607
that may be the picture of the time my buddy did that...
>>
>>28093364

hand select seems to have a better consistency of good cosmetics. really have nothing to worry about when it comes to bore condition because the VKT's rifling stronk. have you bought other milsurp rifles before?
>>
>>28093391
Mosin 91/30 during the gun panic of 2012 bought it for 190 after tax at swindle mountain. Over paid by like $70 dollars but it was a lapped counterbored barrel with a mirror shine. She shoots good but not $190 good IMO.

Ok well, M39's, they are pretty all over the place. You might just get one that is absolutely gorgeous, or you might get one that has pitting on the bolt, bluing 60-70%, pretty gouged up wood, etc.

They made what, 17 million 91/30's? its not hard to find some really pristine ones.

They only made about 96,000 M39's so they've been circulated around a bit more. I'm not saying youre going to get a piece of shit, just be prepared if its only "good" condition and not at all "very good".

I ordered a hand select VKT to join my other VKT. I'm hoping this shipment is going to be some handsome rifles. Be sure to post yours when you get it.

Also, check out the reviews on classic's website, shit load of people uploaded videos/pictures of their rifles, should give you an idea of the quality to expect.

Pic related, my M39 after some TLC.

Shit I bought one last night. You're making me start to regret not springing for the hand select
>>
>>28096061
>You're making me start to regret not springing for the hand select
the hand select is 9/10 times a waste of money. You're paying an extra $10? $20? to have an employee look at I think 10 rifles, and choose which he thinks is the best.
>>
>>28096061
>>28096085

dont sweat the hand select, regardless of the condition, it will be a good shooting rifle. again, look on their website for pictures, they're nice rifles.

i got hand select cause well, it cant hurt and if i get something that doesnt look in my mind "hand select" ill just ask for a refund on the hand select charge.

I hope you're right. I'll post pics once it comes in. Is it considered okay to refinish the stock on these rifles?
>>
>>28098408
If you do it right
>>
>>28092607
Whats the different between the sako and the vkt's? Also which one is more desirable

You can refinish the stock. But honestly it will probably either be in such good condition it doesnt need a refinishing or it will have such deep gouges that youd have to take off so much material that it would look fucked up. The varnish should still be intact, if not then revarnishing it would be prudent.

The barrel manufacturer is different.

SAKO and Valmet (VKT) made the vast majority of the barrels. Supposedly 50k+ Sako's were made while about 30k VKT's were made.

Supposedly VKT barrels are actually minutely smaller caliber than Sako barrels and thus known for being excellent shooters, almost match grade some say.

Despite the fact that they made less VKT's and they seem to be the most accurate, the Sako's always seem to sell for more. Even classic is asking for $50 more than the VKT's. Why? No fucking idea. The Sako rifles have a bunch of neat markings all over the barrel and stock, so maybe thats what leads to them being worth more.

Which is more desirable? It really doesnt matter. I think the Sako rifles have got a really good reputation because so many have them. the most desirable would be a SKY contract Sako because they only made 10k of those. I like my VKT though. I bought another from classic the other because of how good my 44 VKT shoots.

pic related, my '44 VKT with a target set at 100 yards, using 182 gr yugo surplus.

I got mine from the first and second batch. The VKT has cracked handguards and is missing it's bluing but the Sako looks nice.

2bh all you need to do to keep the gun grabbers satisfied is slapping some curly birch on y'alls scary salt guns
>oh no this totally wasn't made to shoot tanks with, look at them purrdy wood bits, this a fine gentlemans hunting gun

Maybe it's just my finnishness talking but I quite like them, especially because they become a shield if you pop the front legs on the ground. And you always could replace them with the bit that enables you to set it on a tree stump (note the operators erection)

just remember that the rifle youre getting is 70 some odd years old, therefore wont be mint, and youll be pleased.
>>
>>28102016
Just some minor wear from bayonet use and some fading on the magazine well, other than that it's fairly nice.
>>
>>28102032

I mean theyre from the 40's cant expect them to be perfect. nice purchase bruv
>>
>>28102088
A ton of the rifles were refurbished in the 60's and so forth, mine was refurbished mid Continuation war, so there's a high chance it actually saw heavy combat use. The rifles are filled with history.
>>
>>28102122

indeed. my VKT has the AZF stamping so its had multiple lives.

pretty much.

or they are tired of all you spergs making them sit there and inspect all these rifles for the best one lol
>>
I was just about to pull the trigger on one of these, but I got cold feet at the last moment. I saw too many guys get burned on other forums on the last two batches for me to blow ~$400 on a mystery rifle

I wish you guys the best of luck though . Post pics when they come in
