It is almost if factors other than gun ownership have more of an effect on the homicide rate.

So this is a map of literally retarded gun owners who just give out information freely. On the phone.

By that logic either Missouri or Maryland are the worst states in the union.

Even accounting +- (X) amount of false reporting, the trend is, overall, still correlating to actual statistics collected by background check rates in America.

So, the map is for the most part legitimate.
>>
>>28089458
>So this is a map of literally retarded gun owners who just give out information freely. On the phone.
>2/10 here's your reply.

Then there is the other two maps of worldwide gun ownership and worldwide murder rate. The US has a high murder rate and high gun ownership rate, but there are countries out there with 4-5x the murder rate as the US and far less gun ownership.
>>
>>28089464
You seem to be implying there's anything wrong with that. They're both shit.

>Nearly one in every three Americans owns a gun, according to a recently published study in the journal Injury Prevention by researchers Bindu Kalesan, Marcos Villarreal, and Katherine Keyes of Columbia University, and Sandro Galea of Boston University.

>The researchers conducted the survey of 4,000 adults in an attempt to answer the question of how many Americans own a firearm — and why — amid a lack of overall data and statistics on gun ownership. They found a broad regional variation in gun ownership — from as low as near 5% in some areas to as much as 66% in others. In individual states, this ranged from 5.2% ownership in Delaware to 61.7% in Alaska.

>Here's a map illustrating their results:
see 2nd map in op
>The researchers discovered the variation was due to everything from local and state firearm laws to cultural and social norms. Those who reported the prevalence of a "social gun culture," in fact, were 2.25 times more likely to own a gun.

>"In many parts of the country, these social norms include participation in social activities around gun ownership. These social gun cultures have rarely been formally studied but may be important determinants of gun ownership," the study's authors wrote.

>In the Northeast, gun ownership was below the national average, ranging from 5.8% in Rhode Island to 28.8% in Vermont. In the Midwest and South, ownership ranged from 26.2% in Illinois to 57.9% in Arkansas. And in the West, just more than 20% of Californians own a gun, compared with about 57% in Idaho.

I think the percents are higher (this is pure conjecture)

Funny how the darker states in this map are mostly all the darker states in the murder rate map. I wonder what's going on here?

Is it hate crimes by KKK members or is it cop murders of black children?
>>
>>28089266
Yeah, you realize that gun ownership doesn't correlate with gun crime, murder, gun deaths, or even gun murder right?

It has literally no correlation.

Not impossible, it took me 7 months to get my long gun permit. The shitty thing is I need to register every single firearm at my local precinct, and the firearms must meet draconian regulatory laws.

It would be interesting to compare the murder rate by state with minority population demographics.

Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

That's brutal enough to be a massive deterrent. Most people don't even want to jump through NFA hoops, and that shit is practically trivial aside from the money.

That makes sense. Large parts of the state are suburban or denser rural and New Hampshire sort of lacks the hunting culture that is more prevalent in surrounding states.

Bait thread but I will bite for the sake of info for the uneducated or those who want to use this for a debate.

The map shows no real relation between firearms ownership and homicide rates. Many states with low homicide rates are high firearms ownership. Many states with moderate-high homicide rates are low firearms ownership.

Population for the sake of this image is a non factor as the top map is measured in per 100k. The argument could be made that high population density leads to high homicide rates but that would require additional data and sources.

Lastly firearms owners are likely to lie in surveys like what was done for the ownership map. This is due to a number of factors. Firstly is the way firearms ownership is treated in many areas. To avoid persecution be it social or political many firearms owners will answer no when asked if they own firearms. However this varies depending on the culture of where they live. They may also answer no to avoid theft. It's not hard for a thief to pose as a survey taker in order to locate homes with firearms to steal.

tldr: No relation between guns and homicide, population irrelevant without more data, gun owners say no when asked about guns.

>>28094165

There is one, it's called the NRA.
>>
>>28094020

They got one thing right, the violence in the US has nothing to do with sane, law-abiding citizens, only sociopathic children made murderous by our society at large.

Funny how none of these people ever seem to ask WHY a person might go on a shooting spree. They don't want the answer, because it would indict their entire neo-fascist, child-medicating, busy-body-parenting, childhood-extending, and anti-rational ideology.
>>
>>28094237
Well in that case, I'll call the NRA tomorrow to see if they'll send me $100 for my CCW renewal.
