TP-82.

The standard issue gun on every Soyuz spacecraft.
Three barrels, can shoot slug, buckshot/pellets, flares and standard ammo (with its rifled barrel).
Its detachable stock is a machete in a cover.

Astronauts' training for Soyuz flight includes target practice with this gun. They praise the accuracy and comfortable use.

...what ammo does it use for the rifled barrel, and what caliber of shotgun ammo?
>>
Rifle used 5.45×39mm.

Shotgun barrel used 12.5×70 mm (40 Gauge).
>>
>>28085233
>5.45×39

Standard AK-74 ammo? Damn, this thing must have a kick when you fire it like a pistol (without stock).

They could use it in space instead of a jetpack.
>>
>>28085248
With a full length barrel the impulse of 5.45x39 is in the .357SIG to .45ACP region. And then we run it through that barrel with the same powder?
>>
these were more for if the land somewhere way off though weren't they?
>>
>>28085332

Yeah, it was a survival weapon for if they landed in somewhere like Siberia.
>>
>>28085332
Yeah, they generally land on the steppe IIRC, but it was possible to drift off to Siberia or some other godforsaken place

probably has a similar reason as to why their icbms were less accurate, but I'm not sure of that.

No. They had space battles....

These should be standard issue

Imagine how awesome it would have been if they would have incorporated this in the gravity movie.

Pic semi related.
>>
>>28085347
like Leonov and Belayev in Voskhod 2 did. It was bear and wolf mating season, and damn were they glad to have the gun (although they only got to use it to launch signal flares).
>>
>>28085352
Normally they are pretty precise in landing, but that's in case deorbiting systems fail - like they did in case of Voskhod 2 - the computer failed, they made an additional orbit and fired the retrothrusters following calculations they did on paper.

Gagarin had 2 weeks worth of supplies despite only staying in orbit for a couple hours: if his deorbiting systems failed, it would be two weeks until the orbit decayed enough on its own, and he'd land in an entirely random place on the globe.

Its kinda sad the the roof collapsed and wrecked it.

I wish there was a game where you are somehow alone in the ISS and somehow this gun got there too.
You use the gun for tasks like investigating what happened, flying through space, shoot "enemies" with it.
>>
>>28085356
For space battles they had a Nudelmann or Rikhter (not sure to this day) installed on Salyut 3.

They even test-fired it, destroying own old satellite. But the gun was not gimbaled in any way, they had to turn the whole station to aim it.
>>
>>28085424
Normally a Soyuz is docked to ISS at all times (as an escape system), and the gun is on board at all times, so technically it IS on ISS most of the time.

One serious problem with the concept: if you hit a wall (even after the bullet passed through the opponent) you punch a hole in it. ISS is designed to be light, not hard, the walls aren't thick and strong at all.
>>
>>28085438
1 enemy, 2 body bags, mission accomplished
>>
So, a quick guide how to obtain the gun in ISS.

First, check whether you're in the Russian or the Western part. Western modules have plain white walls, Russian - a cream orange tint.

You need to enter the Russian part. It's through a sleeve at the end of the longest straight run of corridors/modules on the station. You'll get to Zarya, lots of lockers in the walls and little else.

At the end of it there's a node - four exits with hatches in all directions. If one of the hatches is open, that's Soyuz, go there. If not, continue ahead, past the Zvezda module, and there's another node there - Soyuzs cycle between the two so it's hard to predict on which one you'll find one.

Enter the hatch, continue past the spherical orbital module and enter the capsule. There are three seats, the middle one is the commander seat. Somewhere next to it you should find a triangular container. It's the survival kit, and the gun with the ammo is inside.

P-82s were carried regularly on Soviet and Russian space missions from 1986 to 2006. They were part of the Soyuz Portable Emergency-Survival Kit (Hocимый aвapийный зaпac, Nosimyi Avariynyi Zapas, NAZ). In 2007, the media reported that the remaining ammunition for the TP-82 had become unusable and that a regular semi-automatic pistol would be used on future missions.

Well, that's sad.

I'll be sure to use that knowledge if I somehow find myself on the ISS when the happening starts.

Man's that's so tragic to look at.

Imagine the thousands of engineers and technicians who spent millions of hours developing that. And then the budget gets slashed to zero and the fucking roof collapse..

;_;

>>28087024
Yeah. I'm hoping that the designs are still around somewhere so that it isn't a complete loss.
I'd be willing to bet some ideas are getting integrated into the new commercial space planes
