After a series of events, I ended up in total control of the Brady Campaign myspace page.
It wasn't all that I wanted, but I made do with what I had, and what I had was a platform to spread out a new, aggressive message of gun control.
(actually the first thing I did was turn it into The Brady Campaign to Prevent Car Violence, but that was stupid and we're going to pretend that never happened. No one saw it anyway.)
In the process of taking their myspace, all their celebrity supporter friends (this is how profiles worked then, back in the day- you'd have these people in your "top 8") were purged, but I managed to add a few, AND THEY ACCEPTED THE REQUESTS, MOSTLY WHILE IT WAS STILL THE STUPID CAR VIOLENCE PAGE, THE MORONS.
The most famous was Dennis Black, iirc.
So now I had a bunch of celebrities added, and a direct link to the myspace from the official Brady website. It was go time.
I banged this fucker out in eleven minutes, one draft, one skim for proofreading.
People actually cared about what the Brady Campaign did back then, they were actually something of a danger.
And even today, after years and years of search index decay & rot, you still can find references to what happened. Hundreds of boards and forums that discussed it have faded away, but a few working links remain.
But it wasn't enough. I had to go further. Deeper. Harder.

Thing is, after this, the Brady Bunch couldn't go ahead with their next campaign- which was against sniper rifles, except I had already made the idea look so fucking absurd, they were inextricably tied up with the parody and couldn't go into that territory for years- possibly ever.
I got personal confirmation from one of their former interns that this was the case. The amount of butt-pain this caused was unimaginable. Their donations dropped like a rock. They lost relevance. They're still struggling to this day.
