Seriouslyguys train heavily with your CCW. Buy those hostage targets they sell at the range if you can't find open land to make your own. Get those groups as tight as possible. Train under stress. Attaining a headshot on a non-moving target within 4-5 meters is as easy as wiping your own ass. Especially if you have a laser on your pistol.
It would be a simple matter of saying "I could put a bullet in between your eyes as easy as my grandma could knit a sweater", and giving him 10 seconds to decide his course of action. If he makes no action within 3 seconds, thread the needle through his skull.
Hostage situations NEVER work if you allow the authorities/loved ones within 5-10 meters. At that range, you're nothing more than target practice.
