I suppose what I should have said was that you can't LEGALLY conceal carry a ps90. I have thought about it though. If I put a short barrel on mine and hooked it on a one point sling it could sit right under my arm and easily conceal beneath a normal jacket.

Fuck it, I'm gonna get one of those Sig P250s in .380, it will still be spamable as fuck and .380 is cheap for me since I reload. If I'm lucky .380 will feed as well out of the 9mm magazines for that as it does my other guns when I'm dicking around with snapcaps and I'll be able to get about 20 rounds with an extended base plate.
>>
>>28070982

meh where I live people walk around the city and take the bus so they usually have a backpack for all their shit, a quick google search for concealed carry backpack brings up people carrying ars aks and scars in their backpacks, not saying its something i would do but there are people that do.
>>
>>28071177
why though? do you even care about balistics at all? It just overpenetrates and dumps zero energy
>>
>>28071212
The round is literally designed not to over penetrate and tumble on impact, as for dumping zero energy I dunno what your talking about, the fort hood shooter used a five seven with commercially available ammo and everyone he hit center of mass died and most of the ones he hit in extremity's were incapacitated.

I get that it doesn't impart the kind of energy that more common rounds do, but all the data, wound channels, gel blocks, penetration, etc boil down to one thing: the motherfucker just got shot. I've seen people get shot and I'm going to say that 90% of the time or more the reaction is the same; they either fall down, or run away. I have 20 rounds and I am effective from up to 100m (all though I'm not that accurate yet myself). If I stick somebody with 1 or 2 rounds they are either going down or tucking tail and either of those work for me.

Also, icing on top, blue tips can pierce some soft armor and 9mm/.45 cannot, so I have the edge if the dude has a vest.

Actually, what I feel makes this pistol so crappy is it's size, if it had the same weight and construction of most service guns I'd probably want one. I mean come on, low as fuck recoil and great penetration for soft targets, besides, P90s are also cool.
>>
>>28071699
>if it had the same weight
You do know that one of its selling points is how light it is, don't you? When loaded it weighs the same as an unloaded Glock 17 and the Fiveseven plus a spare magazine weighs as the same as a loaded Glock 17. For military personnel carrying a ton of other shit, that's great.

It is a flaw. You're shooting what is basically a .22 Magnum if you don't shoot the AP ammo.

>just join the police or military to get ammo for a 5.7!

>>28072083
I've seldom seen it and the prices I have seen are pretty fucking steep. The regular ammo is overpriced and scarce as fuck as is. The gun itself is expensive and the ammo is a serious issue. Have fun not actually using it much because you want to have at least some ammo to carry/use for self defense because the market ammo is expensive and relatively scarce.
>>
>>28067262
Politics killed it because anti gun media fears armor piercing bullets

American police forces suck HNK's cock and even if their knock off version of the caliber sucks, they bought it anyway to have german engineering.
>>
>>28067282
I'd rather have cops armed with these since their tactics favor mag dumping...20 rounds in a flush mag sounds like a nice thing to have if your LAPD, and if your NYPD, all your missed shots will do less harm to bystanders.

Better PR for LEO instead of having 40 S&W which was designed for barrier penetration which is something cops should avoid unless they want to pay out settlements.

Outside of that its complete shit.

I mean yeah if you shoot a guy in armor youre going to have a better chance getting in him than with a 9mm full of hollow points, but whats the point for everyday carry?

It's only good with AP. That's the whole purpose of the 5.7x28; it was designed as an AP round. Assuming you can obtain sufficient quantities of this expensive, scarce, and questionably legal ammunition, it's still only good for penetrating body armor at relatively short ranges.
>>
>>28083056
Ultimately even then it's best out of the 10" or longer P90 barrel, the entire point of the Five seveN was so militaries could just standardize on one round for pistol/smg use like with the 9mm.

My one and only handgun. Admittedly, I'm not trained and would likely do quite poorly in a real gunfight. But, If I ever had to actually use it, I could at least keep shooting for a long time.

Pros: Super fucking light weight. 20rd mag standard, 30rd mag available. Really loud. Blasts fireballs. AP capable.

Cons: Expensive. Ammo is expensive. Not exactly practical.

It's like a Ferrari. Sure a fucking ford focus can do the same shit, but Ferrari are still undeniably cool.

Protip: in an "ideal" situation that doesn't involve you shooting someone in the brain or severing their spine, you can expect a determined person to keep being able to fight for about 20 seconds after you doing enough damage to kill them. Humans just don't bleed out that fast.
>>
>>28083691
And 9mm/.40/.45 JHP are long tested to have optimum effect on target, 5.7 is OK, if you consider .22mag decent.
>>
>>28083733
You aren't going to notice a difference. An attacker who isn't determined is going to stop from fear of getting shot alone and there's no evidence of caliber having any effect on that, and if you're up against a determined attacker then nothing short of shooting them in the head or spine will stop them before they're on top of you. As long as a handgun caliber can penetrate deep enough, whatever allows for the most followup shots the fastest and can be used in a reliable gun is the best option.
>>
>>28067262
>Design a light, low recoil handgun with rather high 20 round capacity, and even higher with thirty round magazines.

>No full auto variant to take advantage of a bunch of features that would make it one of the best machine pistols ever made.
>>
>>28071699
What makes the pistol so crappy is that it has zero competition and it isn't just a slightly modified FNX/S. Better trigger and a different slide setup would probaby help a lot since it isn't super attractive for most people and it doesn't exactly scream practically.

I still want one. Partly because I want a chopped PS90 with a Stargate logo on it somewhere and partly because rabbits.
>>
>>28078759
I love when people use the expenditure vs body count as evidence, completely disregarding everything else.

Doesn't make a very good case for small arms, or artillery, or carpet bombing or anything but a headsman's axe honestly.
