so I was looking at this picture of the shield used in the bataclan raid, and it got me to thinking that this is exactly the sort of circumstance in which we'll probably see the earliest powered armor attempts being put to use.

there's a clear need for armor in a police raid-type situation, and it's easy to transport it there and power it for the very short amount of time it'll be needed.

The only use for "power armor" will probably just be powered Exosuits used for logistics, I.e lifting heavy boxes in warehouses instead of using forklifts. Armored power armor is like walking tanks or plasma swords, too stupid to ever be a thing

>Armored power armor is like walking tanks or plasma swords, too stupid to ever be a thing
Idk, he specified for counter terrorism stuff. Having at least the front guy covered from head to toe in level IV body armor would be pretty useful.

No, the worst part of FO4 is faggots who think everything is about FO4. You do realize that people have been trying to make power armor since BEFORE THE NEW FALLOUT EVEN EXISTED. So yeah, fuck off and die in a fire filled with angry bees and Mormon ghosts.
Because power armor is gonna happen soon, everyone wants it for various reasons. Not everything is related to your memes, senpai.

>>28062060
These guys are the closest to being power armored now (by that I mean the heaviest armored individuals you generally encounter)
but when it hits, it's gonna be fucking everywhere.
>Welders and other steelworkers
fuck. yes. this is my jam, and boy do I ever want it. Powered enclosed protective suit with welding gear integrated, PPE integrated, all I have to do is show up and step in the metal man-suit? 100s of kg of force? Fuck yeah! Finnicky job? Program the suit to perform it precisely.
Weld stability assistance for manual welds. A fuckin' monkey on drugs could produce good welds with this.
Gotta weld something in space, or underwater? Literally no trouble at all, you're already gonna have an air supply and environmental seal, all you need is a pressure system.
>SWAT team invincible on raids
Because who's gonna be using 20mm indoors?
>Firefighters DGAF anymore
Fire? Really? I thought we were here for a picnic. This feels like a picnic.
>logistics
Everyone says this, but a power lifter suit is gonna need to be cheaper, or a LOT better, than a forklift before it sees much use.

I'm probably forgetting ten thousand odd jobs that would be made easier and safer with the use of power armor.

Everyone says this, but a power firefighting suit is gonna need to be cheaper, or a LOT better, than standard firefighting kit before it sees much use.

>law enforcement
Everyone says this, but a power armout suit is gonna need to be cheaper, or a LOT better, than a plate carrier and shield before it sees much use.

I will say the welding concept sounds awesome but it would take tons of work to make realistic

My concern about power armor is that when the police are invincible, we can't fight back if we ever have to.

The red color in the middle draws fire to the center when they pop around the corner. That gives the guy holding the sheild and the one behind that guy time to fire. Nobody is going to have time to shoot at his legs. Its really useful for doorkicking.

Pic related are used for fuck knows what besides feeling safer when kicking in doors.

Not just armor you fucking idiot, there's gonna have to be space for an exoskeleton of some sort, electric wiring, computers, some form of cushion between you and the metal, some sort of interface that connects you to the armor, space for the power source etc. it isn't going to be like slipping on a fucking plate carrier

360° protection. Also super human strenght.
Imagine the psychological effects of knowing that your enemy can be completely impervious to any sort of small arm not meant to defeat thick armor. And that he could easily snap your arms off.

Op is right, it's a sound application. Maybe in 50 years, though.

Welding suits would totally kick off, I remember when automatic helmets first came out onto the market - I thought no-one will buy helmets for $300 bucks upwards when you can get manual ones for like $10 bucks.

But look at it now, Auto dimming helmets are like $60 bucks, and manual ones still $10 bucks.

Would be the same with protection and stabilization suits.

That pic isn't entirely stupid as people tend to instinctively aim center mass. So having a lightweight shield that dosn't impede mmobility or vision, while providing additional protection to vital organs seems like a good idea on paper.
