It should say 1974 since Springfield Armory and Springfield Armory, Inc arent the same. Also the XD sucks and the M14 should be 1000 flat
I don't like XDs or M1As. Their 1911s are on par with Colt's and I would really rather have a Colt than a Springfield so... they are a pretty irrelevant company to me. They don't make anything someone else doesn't make a better version of.
They should stick to making 1911s, M1As and make a new Garand. Just because you can make polymershit doesn't mean you should

I like my Mil-Spec, but I'm replacing everything on and in it with Wilson Combat and Ed Brown parts, CZ grips and getting the slide cut for new sights.
Not sure why, I just felt like fixing up a gun I already owned. It has always been reliable. I never had any problems with it.

M1A is over priced and not really any better than cheaper FAL or G3 knock offs. The XD series is pretty nice though. Can't really say anything about their 1911 because I've never even seen one in real life. If I did then I guess it was pretty forgettable.

Re: SA 1911s
They used to use forgings from Brazil and finish them stateside. I have one from that generation and still think it's very well built. They have recently switched to USA sourced forgings so they're truly made in USA. Colts are probably better, but SA seems to be the only company that puts out parkerized 1911s that aren't shit. I can't stand that Colt only offers silver or blued guns (exception being outrageously priced M45s/CRGs). Yes, their internals are MIM, but you know what else is MIM? Geissele triggers. Just buy one if you're on the fence, you won't regret it.
Unless you're asking about XD's and M1As, in which case you should kill yourself.

My 1911 from them needed a 1000round break in before it became reliable. Other than that it has a tight lock up, no travel in the trigger and has no nicks in the finish or rust, despite being thrown into gravel and used to "hunt fish."
