What should I be looking for? There's a kind of really old sticker on the buttstock, round with "171" in it. Oh, rear sight is missing too, easy fix.

RSAF Enfield, Stevens-Savage or Long Branch. Most of the battle sights were ground off instead of removed and the cheek peice uses brass screws.
The buttstock was marked with S51 on the buttstock if Holland & Holland did the conversion (they did most of them).
Evidently there was a batch of around 3k that got modified but never received brackets or scopes.

It's supposed to; the No.4 barrel is free-floating. You should be able to push it up, down, left, and right before it makes contact with the stock and handguard.

I fingerfucked a savage no 4 mk 1 in not bad shape at my LGS but decided $650 AUD was a bit steep.
