The advantage is a longer iron sight radius. OP wouldn't be able to utilize this advantage with all the dicks in his mouth.
It moves the sight forward throwing the balance at the end of the barrel.
It undergasses your rifle, you also have to find a lightweight buffer weight and tune it if you don't have a faux dissapator setup.

Iron sights are rarely the primary sights anymore. A faux dissipator setup is extra weight for no good reason. A real dissipator setup is incredibly undergassed because of incredibly short dwell time.
If you want a 16 inch barrel you need a mid length gas system. The shortest barrel possible with rifle length gas system is going to be 18 inches.
Real 16"/rifle gas dissipators run like shit. And the faux dissys have no advantages over a floated handguard.
You want one for aesthetics or whatever, gr8, but it's not really good for anything.

In that case go nuts on faux Dissy. Real Dissy will require some tweaking to make it run right - lighter BCG, lighter spring/buffer and larger gas port or have suppressor to add enough pressure to cycle the bolt.
This would be a good front sight for your faux Dissy build, it doesn't require drilling pin holes (just bolt it down), it folds but still have that A2 look.

Original Colt dissipators had a rifle length gas system on a 16" barrel with rimfire-tier reliability unless suppressed. Several 18" barrels are made with rifle length gas systems today.
Bushmaster (who bought the trademark) dissipators used low profile gas blocks with a carbine length gas system and a cosmetic / handguard end cap/nonfunctional A2 FSB.
Most modern dissys are bushmaster style with a carbine or mid length tube and a low profile gas block, the advantage offering an increased sight picture helping with user accuracy. I prefer the style myself.

16" barrels work with rifle length gas systems just fine. The problem is they are only acceptably reliable, with a dwell time short enough to fail to cycle more than 1 in ~10000 times. This is virtually eliminated with a suppressor.
I like rifle length gas systems too, but there is a large difference between fandom or preference versus deluding yourself.

I also had a tiny flashlight that slipped perfectly into that band that goes around the strap for a place holder but ditched it since it was too hard to work and keep a grip on the gun.

Someone on youtube said that the rifle length gas is the most rewarding if you can get it to work, due to lower recoil. I have one coming in the mail, so I can't exactly say for myself.
