When the period of ice age ends, earth will get too hot for the various feedback mechanisims in the environment to keep the temperature stable.
The sun isn't helping, either. It has been getting steadily hotter for the last billion years. Earth will become Venus 2.0 long before the sun swallows it, with or without global warming. Destroying the moon with conventional means is a bit tough. If I had a scant 10 billion dollars or so i think I could attach an ion engine to a meteor and slam it into the moon and knock it's orbit out of whack. If time wasn't of any issue I could move a meteor close to the moon and pull it away from the earth and fling it off into space somewhere.
