My first AR ever (still in progress) My brothers, dad, and friends all have these things so I had to join in.
Started from 80%, finished at the manufacturer.
IN
new upper is completed
Does your AR stand on its OWN?
I'm kinda upset that I got a heavy barrel. I didn't know what SOCOM was, I just bought it. I guess it won't get hot, as fast right? I was going for a lightweight build since I already have a long range precision gun

Could be worse.
Could be Government.

I'm thinking about getting a pencil when I get around to doing my SBR, want a featherweight rifle to accompany my featherweight shotgun

It's thin under the handguard and heavy towards he muzzle past the gas block. The SOCOM profile is an upgrade made because government profile barrels fail if you seriously overheat them, you probably couldn't do it without full auto.
Neither has much utility for the average disgusting civilian unless you're building a clone.
So I bought this today... Preban Bushmaster XM177 carbine in a ban state. Gonna flip it probably.

I just got an Aero pencil barrel and its GOAT

LOve that middle one. I think I wanna go for sights like yours. At least the front. What are they?
>>28047568
Aww. Well shucks. I guess I can put a bipod and enjoy something that holds a little bit more still.
Does anyone have a beginners guide for ars?
>>28047609
There's probably something like that over on arfcom.

Just generic AR sights man.

looking to build a pistol cal AR.
I was planning on 9mm for cheap as fuck plinking but always wondered why .45 is such a black sheep in the AR. Is it barrel length doesn't get the most of it? feeds or cycles poorly?
also what are things I probably haven't considered in my build that I should.
My build is almost complete. Just need a handguard and sights. In all honestly, keymod or MLOK? I'm leaning a little more towards a 12" MLOK. I think it looks a bit cleaner
Has anyone made a classic FAL-style wire carrying handle for the AR that's commercially available? I love the carry handles already, but sometimes you want an optic. Still want a carry handle in those times, so I'm curious.

I think it's mostly just that with .458 socom being a thing, it's kind of pointless to have a 16" barreled carbine that shoots fat heavy .45 ACP bullets that cost more than .223 while doing a fraction of the damage and with lower mag capacity.
There's just really no practical point to it besides someone thinking it's "cool." Kind of like a 10mm carbine. I see neckbeards lusting over the concept on youtube all the time, even though it would be objectively stupid in practice.

Potato bake anyone?
Why isn't the US army using drum mags for their AR's? I know, the weight is bigger, but an AR isn't even that heavy and you could even replace them for 5,56 LMG's.
100 > 30
Keymod is pig disgusting
TFW can't decide between tango down battle grip or magpul miad.
Also TFW after looking the only nice looking m lock hand guards are the freefloaf meme

Because they're unreliable.
>PSA doesn't have the CHF upper I want in
>BCM sold out of the one I wanted yesterday
Any idea how long it takes either of these places to get stuff back in stock?
How gay would I be for building a midlength dissy? Should I wait for a PSA upper to come back in stock or make it myself? MI flip up front sight post any good?
I think it looks neat and I've got a good deal on a rifle length rail.
I got my Anderson lower together as well.
Got a cheapo carbine now as well
