I just hate the aspect that, for "AR people," no matter what setup you have, it's NEVER good enough.

Your AR could be full of LaRue, BCM, etc, and a bunch of retards would point out 100 issues they have with your gun.

If there is a "perfect" AR, it already exists; most likely in several iterations. It's just that the faggots who care enough to know about every single model and part can never agree on anything because their gun will always be better than the next guys.

Difference between AR and AK guys:
If your AK is (generally) at a certain price point, or legit manufacturer, it's accepted throughout the community- because it's an AK and it WILL (most of the time) function as well as any non-shit tier AK. Accessories are secondary fare.

AR guys will bitch to the end of the earth because:
>you bought a brand X fully built rifle (brand isn't good enough, you could have built one, etc)
>you built your rifle, but the parts you used aren't good enough
>your accessories aren't good enough, functional enough, tough enough, or aesthetic
>your optic is shit

Just start preferring guns with a barrel shorter than 10", as that's the point where intermediate rifle rounds start performing similarly to pistol ammunition wound ballistics wise while converting all the extra energy they would normally have into giant fireballs and fucktons of noise. Above 10" and you can get 5.56 that will fragment out to at least 50 meters.

>I don't think .40 S&W is THAAAT bad

My buddies dad shot my glock 23 the other day; he took 4 shots, turned back and said "ok, I'm done."
I almost called him a pussy to his face. He's sort of a fudd, and I could tell he wasn't ready for the snappy-ness, but still...
He shot an FNX 45, a m&p 9c, and some dpms AR in that same sitting and didn't complain about anything. Suddenly when the .40 comes out, it's bitch, bitch, bitch.
It doesn't have to be anyone's favorite caliber, but seriously, man the fuck up. Can't believe someone could shoot a 9 and a 45 minutes before and have no complaints.

I completely agree that there is a prison industrial complex and Im perfectly ok with it.
Dont break the law and you wont get sucked into it. If you do break the law, then be prepared to get used by the government in some way.

I also question our philosophies on guns a lot. I don't think its sane to just say muh rights and leave it at that. I certainly don't agree with gun bans but there are some people on our sad that are truly retarded

I like .40 smith and Wesson

most youtube gun stars are wanna be tacticool operators and its embarrassing

I usually side with the police in incidents of beatings/shootings. Don't act aggressive and don't get your shit kicked in, its a general rule of life, not just with the police. Especially after seeing these "peaceful protests" id like to see some more ass kicking. Its the lesser of two evils IMO

Wait, what? When did .40 S&W become the new meme caliber for everyone to sperg out about? I can't keep up with /k/'s autism shifts as well as I used to.
>>
>>28051668
Thank goodness someone agrees with me on the caliber thing. The reason it exists is to make up some excuse to buy a new gun and new ammo. When you can't progress the technology fast enough you just reposition it and make something new out of something old. It's the same with any expensive stuff, like "YOU NEED A 4K CURVED SMART TV".
Also,

>Open-bolt SMGs are better than closed bolt SMGs

How? I can understand open-bolt on GPMG since they need to stay cool to be effective, but what benefits do open-bolt SMGs have over closed-bolts besides cooling and ROF.
>>
>>28050781
He was talking about it in the case of what the Russian military would use, in which case 5.45 would be more available due to the logistical reasons that that anon pointed out.

>>28053217
Well, an open bolt straight blowback SMG can have a bolt that weighs about half that of a closed bolt straight blowback SMG, so in theory they should be a bit more controllable in full auto due to having less reciprocating mass (though worse for single shots).
>>
>>28053151
well the AK was the first truly general issue assault rifle, but the AR-15 introduced modern aluminum and plastic manufacturing methods and small light calibers to the game

Sad part is, I OWN a PTR. It's accurate, but when you examine it, how many countries at the time were welded together delayed blow back rifles?

You'd think they could build something that would blow the FAL and the AR out of the water. Nope.

>>
>>28055595
When using supersonic ammo with a suppressor like you would generally be doing with a rifle 5.45x39mm will still be better. If you want to use subsonic ammunition both will perform like shit and you would be better off using a suppressed submachine gun, unless you need to regularly take precise shots past 100 yards in which case I don't see there being much of a difference between subsonic 5.45x39mm and 7.62x39mm.

One, you'd have to be pants on head retarded to make that mistake with the bolt head; and two, that's assuming you somehow got your hands on a Ross that wasn't converted to make incorrect assembly impossible.

I don't get why suggesting a firearms safety course to be mandatory with every new gun owner's purchase

Go literally shoot the shit with like minded gun owners, maybe learn some things, make some friends and get some input. make it free or set up some deal with gun stores getting government kickback for doing it. But no, the immediate response if government conspiracy and take over. Ive sold lots of guns to good people, but a handful of retarded ones that have probably ND's into their own heads

>Above 10" and you can get 5.56 that will fragment out to at least 50 meters.

I have one of those Zastava AK pistols in 5.56, and have been thinking about good defense ammo for it for a while. Like, should I go with heavier 5.56/.223 and hope it penetrates better? Or something like the 40-grain Hornady ballistic tip loads to keep the velocity up where 5.56 tumbles and yaws in soft targets? Heavier might be better....it's hard toimagine a scenario where it'd be used for defense outside of 10 yards, max.

And yes, it's fucking LOUD. You would NOT want to fire it indoors, even if you doubled up on ear pro.

Where outside their should Americans look to? I'm saying this as a Canadian; the only reason we can afford to play the politically correct game and mothball our military to shit is because at the end of the day, the buck doesn't stop with us, it stops south of the border.
>>
>>28059075
there are only a handful of nations with militaries that have the technology/equipment/training to work alongside the US military as equals...Canada is one of them.
>>
>>28059126
Training? Sure, I could see that; everyone I've known who served in the Canadian Forces as a regular trained with the Americans at some point, so it makes sense that we'd have the same or similar training exercises and capabilities.

Equipment and Technology? How does Canada even come close to the United States? As far as I can tell they're decades ahead of us in that regard.
