New to CC here. I don't have my permit yet, but I'm ballin on a budget so I'm looking for a decent but affordable IWB holster. Could anyone give me any recommendations? Hybrid? Leather or kydex?

I've found a couple that might not be awful. What do you guys think?

Also, Aliengear hybrid holsters look pretty nice, but at $40, I'm a bit leery of them

Aliengear is fine. Though for $80 you can get a crossbreed which is a better.

I have the exact same as the first one, except in black and made by a company called Tagua.
I have the Glock 19 holster and carry a Glock 26, because the Glock 26 holster is just too short, it makes pulling my wallet out too hard.

Honestly thinking about upgrading to an Aliengear soon, MIGHT get the HSP Incog so I can actually have swag for once.

I have an Aliengear cloaktuck 3.0 and it's great. They sent me the wrong shell for my gun at first, but I contacted them and they had the correct shell postmarked to me in less than a week. It's super comfortable, though it tends to shift around and then only a trip to the bathroom will set it back in place. It also does a decent job of concealing my big-ass gun, but then, it's my only holster so I can't really compare it to others. All in all, I like it, and I especially like AG's customer service. I get the feeling that their QC dept consists of retards and potheads because apparently the issue I had is pretty common according to Google.

Oh, forgot to mention that it's pretty customizable, and it comes with a really helpful toolkit. It took me a while to figure out exactly how I wanted to carry my gun, but luckily adjusting it and trying out new setups was a pretty painless experience.

Aliengear's plastic takes well to heat. I have put a heat gun to my old AG Makarov holster. To make it into a CZ52 holster. It works ok, just can not overcome the 2 pounds of pistol. Even with a good belt. Which is a shame because it hides really well.

You know that AG allows for free shell trades, right? Unless they don't make a CZ52 shell (I'm too lazy to look it up).

Also, I carry a USP Compact .45 with 9 rounds of 230gr, which should be close to or slightly over 2lbs. My AG holds up fine with my gun belt.

they don't make cz52 shells.

the back of the holster is starting to fall apart anyways. So I figure I would try it out for shits and giggles. While I wait for the custom all leather IWB holster to arrive for the CZ52.

I have a crossbreed for my mak now.

Does the angle of the shell on the AG holster make for an awkward draw for anyone?

Alien gear holster, hands down the best holster, leather kydex hybrid, comfy, lifetime warranty, spare parts come with it, and cheaper then most.

Aliengear makes a solid holster, but I personally went with an Old Faithful when they offered the kits for $35. Same warranty and shell policy as Aliengear, but they are 80 now. However, they do feature metal clips as standard as opposed to the plastic ones (no shifting at all, even on active 14hr days.

There is absolutely no reason Crossbreed is better.
Aliengear doesn't get enough love.

Comp-Tac is better if you are going to spend $80

AGH is good for the price but needs a lot of TLC and tweaking to make it really good. Comp-Tac is pretty much out of box awesome. It's not as wide as AGH see >>28040622 for size comparison.

I worn the AGH for a month and it's for a bigger fellow it just doesn't sit right on a 5'10" (king of manlet) 130lb guy

One thing cool about AGH is it does take Comp-Tac stuff and I love the C-Clips

Comp-Tac does make a slightly cheaper version which doesn't cover up the screw mounts on the back. Alien Gear is upping their game with version 2 and 3 through, Comp-Tac has been around for a while so new comers has a bit of catching up to do.
