any of you kommandos have advice for cleaning up a bolt? Im not looking for a mirror finish by any means I just want to clean up my M39 bolt to get rid of some of the spots and gunk. already tried ballistol and a microfiber

This will do you right. I polished a 91/30 bolt to a mirror finish in about an hour using a microfiber cloth and a bit of Mother's.

Extremely fine Emery cloth will polish anything. add a bit of metal polish to it and you'll get mirror finish.

i have something similar i used for the glock trigger job but i dont want to mirror the finish. maybe ill just use NEVRDULL

I don't even like nuggets but the design, particularly of the bolt, I'd really elegant.

It is definitely smoother. Its a '39 Tula and and as far as Mosins go it is pretty slick.

Not that he has to, but you can easily shine it to the point of being able to see yourself in it if you so choose.
